Will Obama make Mitch McConnell a "One term Senate Majority Leader"?

How does McConnell propose to keep his job past 2016? He will need Obamas help if he wants to carry any legislative accomplishments into 2016. Can Republicans run in 2016 on a Do Nothing Congress?

Obama has been protected by Reid. That shit is over. The real "Do nothing" is Obama. The emperor has no clothes.

How many Congressional bills have crossed his desk?

Do Nothing Congress will remain do nothing unless some compromise is obtainable
How many bills did Harry Reid allow on the floor of the Senate after House passage?

Obama did not want Republican bills on his desk, he would have had to take a stand in public.

That ends in January.

No Reid running interference now.

This is Senate map for the 2016 elections. The reds are the states where a Republican is up for re-election.

Simple math and politics tell you that the GOP is far more vulnerable in 2016 than even the Democrats were this year.

How does McConnell propose to keep his job past 2016? He will need Obamas help if he wants to carry any legislative accomplishments into 2016. Can Republicans run in 2016 on a Do Nothing Congress?

They just got elected to stop Obama and the Democrats.

In 2016, the run on having stopped him, and on what they plan to do when they have the WH too.

They have two years to carefully craft issues and thoroughly vet potential candidates.

In the meantime, the Dems have to totally repair their shattered image.
Shattered Image? WTH are you talking about? This changeover was entirely expected. All the Dems have to do is sit back and watch the GOP not govern, fight amongst themselves, and react like schoolgirls every time Obama vetoes their nonsense. Trust me, it's an easy ride for a couple of years now. Having to govern is the hard part and the GOP says government doesn't. Whenever they are in control of anything they're correct, it doesn't.

Keep repeating that to yourself.

Hell, he's lost Jordan(BB player) and will soon lose Jordan(country) to the ISIS.
How long before you figure out that nobody but you little morons give a fuck? The country wants nothing to do with Muslim, Arab, Israeli wars. The whole place could turn back to sand for all most of us care. We've had it. We're burned. We want better paying jobs and the bridges and potholes fixed. Fuck ISIS, they can have that shithole. Got it now?
Hey, I have made numerous posts saying the same thing.

Nothing is better than Muslims killing Muslims; it keeps them from thinking about us.

I agree we have no business there; we do not belong in a Muslim schism wrapped inside a Persian/Turk power play over who will rule the Arabs.

We finally found a point of agreement.

Now, tell me why Obama is now increasing our involvement there daily?

No. Obama is through. Wad spent. He even looks defeated. McConnell and the GOP controlled Congress will send popular proposal after popular proposal to Obama's desk and force the Ideologue-in Chief to veto them.

Obama still has that pen that McConnell needs

2016 is going to be tough for Republicans in the Senate. They have to defend 24 seats they won in 2010, Democrats only need to defend 10. Many of those 24 seats Republicans must recapture are in blue states.

What will those Senators run on in 2016? Gridlock?

For McConnell to save his job, he will have to have something those Senators can run on

If there is one thing these elections have proved, it's that the Republicans are NOT the ones getting the blame for gridlock in Washington.

All the Republicans have to do is to make Obama the choke point at which popular legislation dies.

That's what happened to the Senate.

Democrats think that American's are idiots, that if they can get the liberal media to blame Republicans for gridlock, they can make the dumbasses citizens believe that.

But Americans saw through that crap. They saw the truth...that Reid and the Democrat controlled Senate was the choke point....and they moved to eliminate it.

Now it's Obama's turn. He will be forced to do his own obstructing.

How do they make Obama the choke point if they can't even get bills out of the Senate? Reid couldn't beat filibuster with 55 votes, how can McConnell do it with 54? McConnell needs to get Obama to agree to his legislation to even make it through the Senate.......How can he do that when his own party considers ANY compromise with Obama to be unacceptable?

Because Democrats can read the tea leaves even if Obama won't.

They all understand #HillaryLosers. Zero coattails to ride in 2016...and 2018 may look a lot like 2014 if Democrats continue to obstruct the will of the people.

They saw Massachusetts, Illinois and Maryland elect Republican Governors...and that means (GASP) it could happen to them as well. No matter how safe they felt yesterday, they feel vulnerable today.

That's why at least a few will choose self interest over Obama.

They stuck with Obama, and look what it got them?

Only ten Democratic Senators are seeking reelection in 2016. They are all in blue states.
24 Republicans will have to defend their seats....they are the ones who have to be scared

Blue states like Massachusetts, Illinois and Maryland?

Today that seems small reassurance.

For the same reason we have always been there, and will continue to be. They have what we can't live without.

The Democrats lost Tuesday because they (1) had terrible candidates, (2) they had no message that differed from that of the Republicans, (3) they angered their base through their abandonment of President Obama, and (4) nobody has any idea what they stand for anymore.

Nobody knows what Republicans will do, either, but they energized their base through hot-button topics like (1) the President's race, (2) hatred of immigrants, (3) pro-evangelical rhetoric, (4) anti-foreigner rants, (5) fear of unseen enemies, and (6) fear of ebola.

I hope the Republicans can accomplish something, but I doubt they will. This new crop is a bunch of professional politicians that have proven they can win elections--but not much else, just like the last Congress.

Low information lefties actually thought that the republican majority in congress caused gridlock even though Harry Reid's senate stalled about 3,000 bills originating from congress. The floodgates will be open in January and Reid will no longer be able to run interference for do-nothing incompetent Barry Hussein. Barry will have to stick around D.C. and work for a living even if he uses the veto pen.

3,000 bills?

From the do nothing House which has the lowest productivity on record?

:link:

McConnell May end up being majority leader for a term, but I doubt it, but if he did it won't be because of Obozo. I reject your premise that McConnell held back Obozo from being a successful president. Obama would be much less popular without the obstruction from the republicans.

McConnell is on the record stating that he wanted Obama to be a single term failure.

That won't hurt Obama. He can sign the bills that might have public support, and get the credit, or he can veto the bills that don't have public support, and get the credit.

I love how day 1 RW is already predicting losses for Republicans in 2016 based on them not passing bill and gridlock. Yet he won't admit that the Senate under Democrat rule sat on bills and didn't pass chit except hyper partisan crapola and due to this fact (and that Obama sucks at life) Dems were kicked out of office in historic manner.

Who knows what will happen in the future, but is Reps at least allow hundreds of bills to be voted on in the Senate that will be more than Harry Reid and Dems did. If nothing passes it will in fact be once again because Dems are obstructionists. How logically can you argue against that?

I hope the poster hit an extra zero.

Reid obstructionism doesn't need to be exaggerated, just brought to the light of day.

There is very little Obama will sign that has a clear majority of public support. What is stopping him from signing these bills today???? Or yesterday???? Why wait another 2 ish months????? Was waiting 6 years not enough wait time to deliver????

Dear gawd, people like you still exist. You're hate rant breaks down to Republicans won because they are racist and Dems lost because they backed away from the Demi-God Obama? Pretty ignorant position if you ask.... anyone.

Avory, it is a joke, son, on you far righties.

The demographics shifted somewhat in minorities and women, which significantly aided the GOP victory.

The leadership of the Republican Party will be listening to them with far more interest than to your outlier wing.

The shift in the GOP to modern demographics is happening. That is great!

You guys have been taking that stupid quote out of context for how long now?

Anyway, Obozo has been a disaster on many different levels. He's incompetent, lacks good judgement, has a bizarre world view and is extremely arrogant. Not a good formula for a president's popularity.

Unless, of course, McConnell completely does away with the filibuster entirely.

That's why increasing the demographic base and forcing the party to respond to minority and women issues is so important for the party and the country
