Woman says she was told to pump breast milk in pet area at Dulles Airport

A woman, Liz Meagher Cooper, asked an employee at Dulles airport whether they could provide clean sanitary space where it would be possible for her to pump milk. As Cooper says the bathroom in the airport wasn`t sanitary so she asked for another room. Then she was offered to go to pet relief area!
I wonder the employee was mentally ill or just rude and malicious? The US is one of the most developed countries in the world so what happens to the service here?

The pet relief area was probably the best place. It is likely cleaner than the restrooms and even the waiting room. It's quiet. It's ideal. The only other place suitable might be the foot baths for the muslims.

"we have companion/family restrooms located throughout the airport. We are also working to designate four additional private rooms in the Main Terminal for breastfeeding use. The rooms will include a chair, a flat surface and an electrical outlet."

You have misunderstood the issue which was finding a clean place to pump that has a flat surface to put the pump. To me, she should have sat on the floor and just wiped down a few inches of tile and put her pump there.

One of my clients started breastfeeding her baby. In my tiny office I didn't have a separate room so I told her to use my office and I would give her privacy. She didn't want privacy but I insisted. We raised 4 kids and my wife breast feed 4 of them. She rarely breast feed in public like restaurant or airport and when she does cover herself with a blankie. If there's a private place she would appreciate it. Parents has their own options how and where they breastfeed their baby.
