And may I ask, would the hospitals and her doctor NOT TREAT HER due to not having Insurance? I've always had insurance so I truly am ignorant on this topic, but even before the ACA, if a person like this woman did not have health care insurance, would hospitals and Doctors actually NOT HELP and not treat this woman's critical medical condition? Can they REFUSE to treat a person who may die without such treatment, unless they have the cash or health insurance? How does it all work if you don't have Insurance with Doctors and Hospitals?

Or due to the high cost of her surgery and treatment needed, her and her husband chose to not have the treatment needed until their Insurance quagmire was settled, because they didn't want to face bankruptcy?

Xerox is a publicly traded for profit multinational corporation with assets in the neighborhood of $30 billion and revenue at $22 billion in 2012. Any insurance healthcare provider Rolain would have signed up with would be a part of the private sector.

Really? I just happen to PERSONALLY know a Canadian couple with two kids who took a trip to Disneyland about 10 years ago. After driving home, the husband came down with what they first thought was a cold. Later, they thought it was the flu. And later still, pneumonia. Turns out he had contracted Legionnaires disease (probably from a stay at an American motel). But the Canadian system not only kept him alive until he recovered, they weren't saddled with years of debt because of fees and limitations of coverage etc, nor were they at risk of a medical bankruptcy like is common here in the states.

Once he recovered fully, life went on as before.
