In a dependant and enslaved country.
As an investment for the nation, if citizens (by birth/no foreigners (such as asians)) were allocated 5k per semester (and given preference for additional Work Study grants), at zero cost upon completion of degree, or a zero interest repayment (over 20 years) if no degree is obtained (assuming no medical catastrophes), would the investment return more revenue and economic growth than the funding?

Should all degree/career paths be eligible (freedom of student choice), or on select areas of study.

Should the government decide on parts of curriculum for certain subjects (military related subjects notwithstanding)?

Should those who spend a considerable time overseas after graduating (or renounce/change citizenship) be forced to repay all grants at 10% interest.

Some of the dumbest people I know have a college education. Some of the laziest people I know have a Master's degree. Some of the smartest people I know with college degrees work out low paying jobs with no future.

No, it wouldn't pay for itself because a moron can get a degree from most colleges and universities.

Nothing is free, you can thank the feds for the rapidly rising cost of college in the first place, now you want to get them more involved. Are you insane?

I'm sure the guberment would get the money from the magic money trees they have growing behind the white house. I wonder how all the people that have already PAID for their children college educations would feel about this. I wasn't born to pay for everyone's college education. But might be forced to do that too. And not even receive a thank you note for it

I know you are a waiter so let me break this down slow and simple for you.

Education is no longer a good way to be a Capitalist. Withholding information doesn't work anymore because we have the internet. We have ample supply of education and one once said, "Someone smart isn't what they know, but if they know how to learn"

I believe in FREE education for K-12 (and by that I mean via taxation, I know, not free, try to keep up tax freaks)

I believe the Government should offer no interest loans for college students. That way they pay only what they spend to get that education.

YES. Some will fail and they should pay for what they spent.

NOTHING in a Capitalist Country is "free". Leave that to the Communists. They think that there is an abundance of things such as clothing, houses and education and think everyone should get those things. Crazy Commies.

If it was Communism and someone just wanted to go to college to party...........oopsie, the rest of us would pick up the ticket. Making a decision of no interest college isn't Communism or Socialism. I know many will post that it is.

^this bone head thinks education prices are rising because of the Government..............

Those sneaky government hooligans;

I think we need to place a cap on college tuition and maybe reward aid for degrees that are worth while for society.
If we didn't have to spend so much money on AA and special accomodations for gimps at our schools, we could probably lower the tuition rate significantly.

Like Law, Education doesn't require common sense.

Smaller class rooms is key in education. But it takes more people being educated to get those smaller class rooms. American Education 101.

I don't know if I agree with that or not.

That depends on the level of education. The hell with smaller classes for the 100 and 200 level courses...weed out the idiots and slackers.

Also, what will happen to the Elitists in the Country if everyone got educations? If everyone learned not to borrow. If everyone learned not to live beyond their means. If everyone ate responsibly. If everyone chose responsibly. ETC ETC ETC.

America is a hen house for bad decision makers because it is full of $$$$green. If Americans get easier education, it will be much harder for the lazy rich to manipulate an uneducated society that can't afford proper education.

A college education teaches none of that!

You must not have kids.

Children turn into what you form them into. No children are idiots unless they have idiot parents. Every idiot child has an idiot parent. Every violent child has a violent parent.

THIS is something America needs to learn.

The college level isn't forced education...and the student are no longer children and make their own choices as to whether or not they are going to succeed in school.

^Not sure if that is an argument since you are in agreement with me.

Or maybe you didn't notate that poor families tell their children "hard work is the only thing that will get you ahead in this Country" Yet no hard workers in America seem to be getting raises even though prices are going up. BASIC STUFF.
