Wyoming's proposed anti-LGBT law

The Becky Devos/Eric Prince theocracy push on the move.
The Prince of America's Blackwater wants to deny those with whom he disagress the right to live as they wish.

What about pedophilia, kiddie porn, incest...where does it end?
Those are all illegal. Is being gay and gay marriage illegal?
Those are all illegal. Is being gay and gay marriage illegal?
Illegal for how long?
Why should preferences be a pick and choose,
what is acceptable or unacceptable?

Right, I mean, after all, just cause it's not my cup of tea,
what gives anyone else the right to deny the passions of another?

That's discriminatory, no?
Illegal because they are harmful and/or cannot show adult consent. You can deny the "passions of another" by NOT consenting. Surely you knew that. If not, stay away from children and animals.

Besides.....what does gay marriage being legal have to do with those three things? Just like what does straight marriage have to do with them?

Anyone should be allowed to engage in whatever they want,

Hyperbole

Nope. I do vote for candidates I think would be amenable to restricting PA laws to actual PA's. and I would support an organization that thinks along my lines, but right now the main sides are "Repeal them all" or "make every person a slave to the government", without anything in the middle.

Make every person a slave to the government?? Talk about your alternative facts.

PA laws require that YOU, the business owner, treat everyone who walks through your door as an equal. If you are a Christian, this should be easy because Jesus said "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.".

Jesus and God depend on their followers treating everyone as if they were welcoming the Lord into their homes. Home can you deny service to a gay person and call yourself a Christian?

Apparently you have an issue with good manners, respect, and not stripping others of their rights and dignity. Because refusing service to anyone does just that. If there are members of the public, you can't treat with respect, then don't go into a business that serves the public.

Being required to treat others with good manners isn't being forced to work for the government. It's being forced to be a good Christian.

You have no issue with forcing people into ruin over their religious beliefs, over an easily replaceable, non-necessary service. That makes YOU the asshole. not me.

And you don't get to decide how a person practices their Religion, and if there is no compelling interest, neither does government.

Your "all or nothing, fuck you for disagreeing with me" methods are what made Trump possible, and you refuse to learn your lesson.
what do you think about a person "practicing their religion" sporatically.....claiming their religion doesn't allow them to make a cake for a gay wedding (nothing in the bible about that) but they have no problem with remarriages and interfaith marriages and civic only marriages......

It's none of my business, and its none of government's business unless there is a compelling government interest. and even then only the most mild remedies should be applied.
So.....get rid of PA laws altogether. If there is no law, there is no 14th Amendment requirement. Why isn't Wyoming just getting rid of their PA law?

Because I do believe they serve a purpose with actual PA's, which a contracted non-essential, non-timely service is not.

Has nobody here ever heard the saying "Your right to swing your arm stops at my nose."?

that implies actual harm. How is hurt feelings actual harm?

it also applies to ruining a person's business over hurt feelings. and you cowardly use the government's fist to do the punching.

If you don't want to serve the public, don't open a business to serve the public. But if you want to serve the public, you have to serve ALL of the public, not just the people you don't find offensive.

So "no shirts, no shoes, no service" is illegal?

So a christian store has to sell a cross to someone they know will desecrate it?

So if the local population wants pork, a Jewish Deli has to stock it?

So if you have any moral objection to anything, you have to limit YOUR freedom because someone else's feelings may get hurt?

Here is my retort to that. Go fuck yourself with a rusty tire iron.

From a friend in Wyoming:

The Wyoming State Legislature is considering a bill that, if passed, would become the most oppressive and wide-ranging anti-LGBT law in the nation. It would allow social workers to deny aid, teachers to not teach, health care workers to deny service not only to individuals that identify as LGBT, but their children as well. And that is just part of the bill... this bill tells our LGBT brothers and sisters that they are not worthy to receive services a straight cisgendered individual can receive.

HB-135 is scheduled to be voted upon by the Wyoming House Judiciary Committee this week, its first step toward becoming law. Please call and/or email members of this committee (contact info pasted below) and tell them to VOTE NO ON HB-135. No hate in the equality state!

This religious freedom stuff is a bunch of made up bovine excrement, a bogus excuse to discriminate. It has nothing to do with the traditional meaning of religious freedom. These people just can't get over the fact that LGBT people have gained rights, and all they can do is to wring their hands and whine. Too bad. They need to understand this. No. 1 is religious freedom as rational people understand it. No. 2 is invented.

Two meanings of religious freedom/liberty:1. Freedom of belief, speech, practice. 2. Freedom to restrict services, hate, denigrate, or oppress others.

1. The historical meaning of religious freedom:
This term relates to the personal freedom:
•Of religious belief,
•Of religious speech,
•Of religious assembly with fellow believers,
•Of religious proselytizing and recruitment, and
•To change one's religion from one faith group to another -- or to decide to have no religious affiliation -- or vice-versa.

The individual believer has often been the target of oppression for thinking or speaking unorthodox thoughts, for assembling with and recruiting others, and for changing their religious affiliation. Typically, the aggressors have been large religious groups and governments. Freedom from such oppression is the meaning that we generally use on this web site to refer to any of the four terms: religious freedom, religious liberty, freedom of worship and freedom to worship.

2. A rapidly emerging new meaning of religious freedom: the freedom to discriminate and denigrate:
In recent years, religious freedom is taking on a new meaning: the freedom and liberty of a believer apply their religious beliefs in order to hate, oppress, deny service to, denigrate, discriminate against, and/or reduce the human rights of minorities.

Now, the direction of the oppression has reversed. It is now the believer who is the oppressor -- typically fundamentalist and evangelical Christians and other religious conservatives. Others -- typically some women, as well as sexual, and other minorities -- are the targets. This new meaning is becoming increasingly common. It appears that this change is begin driven by a number of factors:

•The increasing public acceptance of women's use of birth control/contraceptives. This is a practice regarded as a personal decision by most faith groups, but is actively opposed by the Roman Catholic and a few other conservative faith groups.

•The increasing public acceptance of equal rights for sexual minorities including Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender persons and transsexuals -- the LGBT community (); and

•The increasing percentage of NOTAs in North America. These are individuals who are NOT Affiliated with an organized faith group. Some identify themselves as Agnostics, Atheists secularists, Humanists, free thinkers, etc. Others say that they are spiritual, but not religious.

The media often refer to NOTAs as "NONES" because they are affiliated to NONE of the faith groups. However, the words Nones and Nuns are homophones: words that sound alike but are spelled differently and which hold very different meanings. To avoid confusion, we recommend against this practice and recommend the unambiguous term "NOTA."

One interesting feature of this "religious freedom to discriminate" is that it generally has people treating others as they would not wish to be treated themselves. It seems to be little noticed among those who practice or advocate "religious freedom to discriminate" that this way of treating people is a direct contradiction to the Golden Rule, which Jesus required all his followers to practice. See Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:31, and the Gospel of Thomas, 6.

Here is another disturbing case that I recently discovered:

Amid GOP Pressure, Texas High Court to Hear Challenge to Spousal Benefits
The Texas Supreme Court Friday agreed to hear a case challenging some of the rights gained with marriage equality.

The case involves whether the city of Houston is obligated to provide benefits to same-sex spouses of city employees, The Dallas Morning News reports. In September the high court had declined to hear the case, but justices reversed that decision amid pressure from top Republican state officials, including Gov. Greg Abbott, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, and Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Not surprising in Texas. It will be interesting to follow. I don't think this sort of discrimination will prevail. It is in direct conflict with Obergefell, which these ass hats are trying to ignore. These case and other may well wind up at SCOTUS. Lets hope that Ginsburg stays healthy until we get rid of Trump and Pence.

its so cute how they think they're going to get a justice to reverse the law and let them empower their hate-filled pond scum

Obviously this OP and fellow Democrats will intentionally distort what the bill actually says. However, i don't get why so many Republicans obsess over the gay issue. I mean, so some people are gay? Not the end of the world. Republicans gotta get past it. Gay folks have the right to pursue happiness too. Life is so short. Let em have their happiness. Republicans should let it go.
