Wyoming's proposed anti-LGBT law

Legislature Introduces The Wyoming Government Discrimination Act

The Government Discrimination Act’s effects would be significant and immediate. Laramie’s Non-Discrimination Ordinance would be unenforceable, and potentially even illegal. No other city would be allowed to enact non-discrimination protections. County clerks would be allowed to deny same-sex couples a marriage license, and would be able to do so without consequence. A doctor would be able to decline care for the child of a same-sex couple, and could keep her or his license. State contractors or grantees which provide essential social services, such as a homeless shelter or counseling agency, could turn away LGBT people and keep their state funding.

Talk about Regressives.
Maybe someday the state Supreme Court will do something... :(

Since when is the LBGT community not entitled to the same rights and protections as any other American

What about pedophilia, kiddie porn, incest...where does it end?
Those are all illegal. Is being gay and gay marriage illegal?

Nope. I do vote for candidates I think would be amenable to restricting PA laws to actual PA's. and I would support an organization that thinks along my lines, but right now the main sides are "Repeal them all" or "make every person a slave to the government", without anything in the middle.

Make every person a slave to the government?? Talk about your alternative facts.

PA laws require that YOU, the business owner, treat everyone who walks through your door as an equal. If you are a Christian, this should be easy because Jesus said "Whoever welcomes this little child in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me. For it is the one who is least among you all who is the greatest.".

Jesus and God depend on their followers treating everyone as if they were welcoming the Lord into their homes. Home can you deny service to a gay person and call yourself a Christian?

Apparently you have an issue with good manners, respect, and not stripping others of their rights and dignity. Because refusing service to anyone does just that. If there are members of the public, you can't treat with respect, then don't go into a business that serves the public.

Being required to treat others with good manners isn't being forced to work for the government. It's being forced to be a good Christian.

You have no issue with forcing people into ruin over their religious beliefs, over an easily replaceable, non-necessary service. That makes YOU the asshole. not me.

And you don't get to decide how a person practices their Religion, and if there is no compelling interest, neither does government.

Your "all or nothing, fuck you for disagreeing with me" methods are what made Trump possible, and you refuse to learn your lesson.
what do you think about a person "practicing their religion" sporatically.....claiming their religion doesn't allow them to make a cake for a gay wedding (nothing in the bible about that) but they have no problem with remarriages and interfaith marriages and civic only marriages......

What do you think about a bill that allows:
Wyoming Equality even interprets the bill as allowing firefighters or other first-responders to not have to save people’s lives or fight fires if their religious or moral beliefs conflict with the victims’.
I can't believe it... O_____O

It's none of my business, and its none of government's business unless there is a compelling government interest. and even then only the most mild remedies should be applied.

From a friend in Wyoming:

The Wyoming State Legislature is considering a bill that, if passed, would become the most oppressive and wide-ranging anti-LGBT law in the nation. It would allow social workers to deny aid, teachers to not teach, health care workers to deny service not only to individuals that identify as LGBT, but their children as well. And that is just part of the bill... this bill tells our LGBT brothers and sisters that they are not worthy to receive services a straight cisgendered individual can receive.

HB-135 is scheduled to be voted upon by the Wyoming House Judiciary Committee this week, its first step toward becoming law. Please call and/or email members of this committee (contact info pasted below) and tell them to VOTE NO ON HB-135. No hate in the equality state!

Politically, a strange state. Predominantly libertarian, but that includes a strain of "don't expect gummit to hep you out."

Strangely, to some telling a gummit paid social worker or something he doesn't need to serve gays like he does straights means just that to some. I can see telling a baker they don't have to bake. But there are some very weird people in Wyoming. I' will be surprised if the weird House bill gets out of the house.

Looks like Jake will be moving from Wyoming. Please God don't let him come to Texas. The steers are already complaining.

Illegal because they are harmful and/or cannot show adult consent. You can deny the "passions of another" by NOT consenting. Surely you knew that. If not, stay away from children and animals.

Besides.....what does gay marriage being legal have to do with those three things? Just like what does straight marriage have to do with them?

So.....get rid of PA laws altogether. If there is no law, there is no 14th Amendment requirement. Why isn't Wyoming just getting rid of their PA law?

that's the direction this country has been on.
