Notice how the dunce Obama today made excuses for why his Administration has their heads stuck so far up their butts in regards to getting back to Gov Jindal's requests? The Moron wouldn't even touch the reporters other question which was "why have you guys not sent in Tanker Ships to suck up the Oil like they did in Saudi Arabia in the 1990's?". I guess Obama's political contributors would lose money having those ships actaully helping fix this tragedy. Fucking greedy pigs. Hope Obama enjoys his vacation while the entire Gulf is being polluted by his campaign donors. ~BH
How many "tanker ships that can suck up oil" are owned by the US Government?
Now, I think you should really ask yourself, "Why didn't BP send in tanker ships?", Since BP DOES own plenty of them.
As far as the leak itself goes, How many deep sea mini-subs with the necessary equipment to fix it does the US Government own? The answer is ZERO.
And if the government had bought or built this type of sub to deal with potential deep water disasters such as this, YOU would have screamed to high heaven about the waste of federal funds such a sub was.
The fact is, YOU have been complaining about government "interfering" with corporations for decades, especially where oil corporations are concerned. And voting accordingly.
THIS is the fruit of YOUR labor.
But now you're complaining because "Big Government" supposedly isn't stepping in fast enough to clean up the mess you and your buddies made possible.
That's rich.
No, I don't want the Government to TAKE OVER THE FIX. That would only put it on us Tax payers and then make them responsible for any further mess. Actually what I am saying is the dunce Obama needs to get his ass down there and support the folks in the area and show that he cares. WTF is wrong with that? What are we 36 days into this tragedy? WTF? He should have been down there weeks ago. They also have the power to pressure those assholes to get some tankers in there, and you fucking know it. ~BH
According to this New York Times link, President Obama is going to the Gulf tomorrow.

Following is from the president's speech today, I thought it was direct and impressive.
But make no mistake: BP is operating at our direction. Every key decision and action they take must be approved by us in advance. I've designated Admiral Thad Allen -– who has nearly four decades of experience responding to such disasters -– as the National Incident Commander, and if he orders BP to do something to respond to this disaster, they are legally bound to do it. So, for example, when they said they would drill one relief well to stem this leak we demanded a backup and ordered them to drill two. And they are in the process of drilling two.
And, the effort is bi-partisan. Lot's of talk in this thread, but few practical solutions to help.
So we'll continue to do whatever is necessary to protect and restore the Gulf Coast. For example, Admiral Allen just announced that we're moving forward with a section of Governor Jindal's barrier island proposal that could help stop oil from coming ashore. It will be built in an area that is most at risk and where the work can be most quickly completed.
