A new experiment in California aims to solve two problems with one program. A pilot program backed by the California Air Resource Board is offering some big kick backs for residents of the Greater Los Angeles area and San Joaquin Valley if they turn in old gas guzzling vehicles for more energy efficient ones. The lower their income the more money could be coming their way.

In fact, in the right situations, residents could get an electric or hybrid car for nothing. Literally $0.

The program works by providing increasingly larger cash payments for the lowest-income families to move up to the very cleanest cars. Under this program, for example, it is possible for a family that meets the income guidelines to receive $12,000 toward the purchase of an electric car.

Here, people on "assistance" get free bus passes and taxi rides.
Bus passes I can understand, and have no problem with. Our bus routes go just about everywhere someone would need to go, and they're inexpensive - a couple of bucks maximum for the longest trip.
Taxi fare, on the other hand...
I wonder how many weeks of regular taxi travel it would take to equal the $12K maximum payout?
I'm sure that the taxi companies contract for a cheaper fare than normal, but still...

-Base Federal tax for corporations at 30% of revenue.

-Raise minimum wage to $23.50/hr. Based on where minimum wage should be using 1970-2015 rise in food, shelter, and transportation.

-Eliminate all business subsidies (deductions/write-offs/write-downs) except for employee expenses which are deducted dollar-for-dollar on all city, state, and Federal taxes and fees with the Feds refunding city, State, and fees.

-Companies with 500 employees or less, employee expenses above the deduction are subsidized at 100% with funds usually give back to the States.

-Adjust Social Security and private/public retirement and pension payments using 1970-2015 price structure.

-Remove the FICA limit.

-Back down ALL costs, prices, fees, to January 1, 2009 levels and hold them for 10 years which will eliminate inflation.

-Recall ALL off-shore investments tax free, and disallow any further off-shore investments.

-Make inversion illegal.

The critique referencing Reagan is dishonest lefty MSM propaganda trying to excuse obama again. What obama did was expand a marginal landline phone provision for those in poverty into cellphone welfare. Just like he's expanding welfare everywhere. The only one who can do anything about a current problem regardless of when the problem started is the one who is currently in charge.
