3 People (Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos & Warren Buffett) are richer than the poorest 50% of Americans

Gates does nothing for anyone.

Then why do people give him money?
Who gives him money?
Be specific.

Stuff the pompous, 'be specific' shit up your ass. Anyone who buys his products is giving him money. You don't understand that?
Read the OP.
His business has zero to do with his supposed "benefactor" status.
He does for himself and he uses his profit to destroy everyone else.
And I understand why people who suffer from avarice and greed worship him.

I suppose some of them do. I don't have much use for him myself. I just don't think the preoccupation with concentration of wealth makes much sense.

We have let our wealthy off the hook for contributing to our society

We have all paid a price

When you use the government gun to get their $$ it's not contributing.

I've never seen anyone pay taxes at gunpoint
Just because the goons keep thei guns in their holsters as long as you pay up, that doesn't mean they won't come out the minute you refuse to pay.

Tissue Fingerboy?

Your concern for people who are being looted is noted.
Poor, poor Fingerboy

Nothing is wrong with America.

They built, made and earned their wealth and took it from no one and it harms no one
Bill Gates copied, stole and sued everything and dumped everyone who helped make him wealthy.
Bullshit
You must be young.
He sued Borland out of business.
He gave away the Internet Explorer and put Netscape out of business.
He sued dozens of OCX software companies into the ground.
He tried to coptright the Do Loop.
And tons of other scumbag activities.
Your Portfolio worship is showing.

The OP has zero to do with his wealth; it has to do with the fact that he hasn't done shit for anyone but himself and yet everybody's been fooled into believing his Foundations are anything but Tax Shelters where he collects Interest.

And the bottom half of America live like kings and queens compared with 99.9% of people throughout history.....capitolism is working.

wealth disparity is greater now than at any time in my lifetime.

but nice delusion you hate there.

Bill Gates copied, stole and sued everything and dumped everyone who helped make him wealthy.

ALL his first employees are billionaires or millionaires.

Bill Gates founded Microsoft in 1972. It went public in 1986 at which time they created 3 billionaires and 12,000 millionaires, mostly employees. I'm not sure that's dumping anyone.

Big business is a blood sport just like politics.

Apple started with a jump on Microsoft. They made an initial HUGE business mistake based on greed. They forced anyone who wanted an Apple OS to buy an Apple Computer. Microsoft licensed their system to anyone building a computer. Competition made computers with the Microsoft system were much cheaper. In addition, with millions more Microsoft machines in the hands of consumers, developers first made their program to work with Microsoft, then MAYBE with Apple.

I'm a long time Realtor. I began using a computer for my contact lists and mass mailouts by programming with Ms-Dos. Lots of late nights at the office and reading a new language. Then I started with Word Perfect but then came MS Word, Excel and Publisher all in one package with my new computer.

For decades, any Realtor had to use a computer with Microsoft because there was not a single Multiple Listing Service (MLS) vendor that made a system which could be used on Apple.

I take it you're an Apple aficionado. They just made some bad business decisions.

If Bill Gates stole and copied so many things, why wasn't he sued out of business? Did he just have better attorneys or engineers?

How much do all the employees of Microsoft pay in income taxes? What about all the supporting companies?

His first tiny pre 9/11 work force.
Post 9/11 Gates pushed for Business Visas and decimated his entire non-Indian workforce.
He destroyed their careers by testifying before Congress that they didn't have the skillset he needed.
The very work force that produced all of his software suddenly didn't have the required skillset.
I'm nor contesting the popularity of MS; I'm stating Gates is a scumbag.
Try again.

There's a special place in Hell for anyone who thinks Bill Gates is a wonderful person because of his wealth or their own portfolio.

Three Richest Americans Now Own More Wealth Than Bottom Half of US Combined: Report

"The elite ranks of our billionaire class continue to pull apart from the rest of us," a new Institute for Policy study analysis finds
by Jake Johnson, staff writer

In the United States, the 400 richest individuals now own more wealth than the bottom 64 percent of the population and the three richest own more wealth than the bottom 50 percent, while pervasive poverty means one in five households have zero or negative net worth.

snip

"The wealthiest 25 individuals in the United States today own $1 trillion in combined assets," the report notes. "These 25, a group equivalent to the active roster of a major league baseball team, hold more wealth than the bottom 56 percent of the U.S. population combined, 178 million people."'

snip

In order to get a broader sense of the size of the chasm between rich and poor in the U.S., Collins and Hoxie place the net worth of the top one percent and the bottom one percent side by side.

"The wealthiest 25 individuals in the United States today hold more wealth than the bottom 56 percent of the U.S. population combined, 178 million people." "All combined, households in the bottom one percent have a combined negative net worth of $196 billion," the report finds. "For comparison, the top one percent, a category holding the exact same number of people, have positive $33.4 trillion in combined net worth."

It is time to close the loopholes, increase their income tax and even the fucking playing field. That my friends is the right thing to do.

How are you going to even the playing field by punishing the high income earners? They will reduce their spending and incentive to earn more which means less money for you to redistribute. This, coupled with ignorance and refusal to reduce government spending is simply going to push US towards the failed socialist models of other countries.

Distributed prosperity cannot be achieved in economic policies rooted in class warfare.
The problem IS the extreme wealthy. The so called .01%. They have attained enormous political power, due to their enormous wealth. Many of these enormously wealthy people use the central government to achieve power and wealth. They do this by buying protection from central government rules and regulations, via huge political donations. It is a racket the Mafia can only dream of.

They often can protect their enormous wealth from taxation...here is a good series of columns exposing how they do it.

Paradise Papers....
Paradise Papers Shine Light on Where the Elite Keep Their Money

Everything you just described about the 1 percent is prevalent in countries that employ the model you want US to move towards. The difference is that her, US, there is opportunity to move up. The model you want locks in a truly 1 percent. The 1 percent here is not locked in compared to the rest of the world.

That opportunity to move up has decreased dramatically since we embraced supply side
