Good news:
Former boxer
Harry Reid also did a little boxing in his youth; so I’ll reserve judgement on that item in Mr. Abbott’s résumé.
Rhodes Scholar
So was pervert Bill Clinton. I’ll assume Abbott is made of better material.
Trainee priest
My natural distrust of all priests makes that item a bit scary. It can go either way. Abbott can apply Thomas Jefferson’s separation of church and state in Australia, or he can move his country a step closer to theocracy if he gets the opportunity. Pray for the former and watch out for the latter.
Restore political stability
Restoring political stability is the first goal for any country in turmoil, but not so easy to achieve. I wish Mr. Abbott luck. He’ll need it. Defeating Australia’s Labor party did not defeat Australian parasites any more than a conservative American president defeats entrenched parasites in the USA.
I can only wish that Mr. Abbott knows that Parasitism is a worldwide movement not to be dismissed lightly. Basically, in addition to the domestic enemies Abbott has to fight daily he has to ward off pressures from the UNIC (United Nations/International Community). His enemies are spread around the globe; American Socialists not the least of them. If Mr. Abbott plans to implement a conservative, pro-Australia, agenda he should understand this one thing about America as an ally. Democrats betrayed their own country to the UNIC since 1945; so they will not hesitate one second when it comes to betraying Australia; most especially when it comes to defending Australia’s sovereignty.
Cut taxes
Cutting taxes is doable although I cannot say if Australia’s Labor party has the same power American Democrats wield when it comes to blocking tax cuts. Indeed, talk of tax cuts in America usually end in a tax increase.
Nautical “asylum seekers”
Australia has a trickier illegal immigration problem than does the USA. Australia is too large to call an island; so they call it a continent. That means that illegals have to invade by boat. On the plus side the “Let’s build a fence” lie told by Republicans in this country is off the table.
I wonder if Abbott is considering gunboats to turn back illegal immigrants on boats?
Finally, Australians fight alongside Americans more than any other country. That makes them this country’s best ally in my book. All things considered Mr. Abbott is a breath of fresh air at this point in time. Will he stand fast against worldwide Socialist incrementalism in the years ahead? Stay tuned for the answer.
SYDNEY/CANBERRA (Reuters) - Australia's conservative leader Tony Abbott swept into office in national elections on Saturday as voters punished the outgoing Labor government for six years of turbulent rule and for failing to maximize the benefits of a now fading mining boom.
Abbott, a former boxer, Rhodes scholar and trainee priest, promised to restore political stability, cut taxes and crack down on asylum seekers arriving by boat.
