I apologize. The way you stated that she MAY want to shoot, I got the impression.... well you know. I jumped to conclusions.
 
Joz tipped me off about this thread, got here as quick as I could.
I'd suggest a 9mm, like previously mentioned. Be sure to buy from a good, reliable manufacturer. A good 9mil is the Beretta M9, though the 15 round magazine may make for a large grip, which could be hard to hold for a youngster. I may suggest an M1911 with a .22LR conversion kit. That'll cost you a bit more, but you'll have a great historical masterpiece and loads of reliability.

Yeah but definately look into 9mm's and .38's. Check the newspaper, I almost bought an M1911A1 for $300.
