As I recall, Trump didn't stand a chance, Hillary was a shoo in and the Republican party was going to be relegated to a small regional party on its way to its eventual death. So said the media, pundits and pollsters. People kept saying it was overstated and true. They were laughed at. Then Trump was elected president. The Rachel Maddow's of the world wept and sat in stunned silence. they still have not accepted what happened. Hence their being convinced that a blue tidal wave is coming. Time will tell if stories like this one are more wishful thinking and misreading of the tea leaves like the presidential election. People should have learned not to give as much credence to what the media and pollsters tell them, but they enjoy bias confirmation because its easier than facing reality.

The fact is that things have changed since 2016. Suburban voters very reluctantly voted for Trump and now they are abandoning the GOP. Suburban women are angry at the GOP. We saw that in Virginia. The cold hard facts are against the GOP.

What you saw in Virginia is a state ruined by Washington DC being in close proximity and low Republican turnout, on top of state Republican scandal from the previous governor.

Suburban voters did not come out and vote for Trump in 2016. That will change in November.

There is no evidence Virginia has been ruined. In 2018, Virginia will be a disaster for Republicans in a state ticket headed by a white racist for Senate.
