A look back at why we're such a divided country

This nation has always been divided. Mostly it's divided by socio economic classes however there's also religions, locations, the list goes on. In essence it's a melting pot and is quite diverse which is definitely a strength.

That didn't prevent Ronald Reagan from getting things done. That included a massive overhaul of the tax code.

Obama actually tried working with Republicans on healthcare reform but Republicans decided they would not work with him no matter what.

Just a little bit of history that Republicans like to forget.

Yes Republicans were not down at all for gov't healthcare. That's all Obama wanted. And saying Obama "worked" with them is a joke. Saying "take this or we'll shove it down your throats" is not exactly "working with" a party.

Obamacare was not government run healtghcare. That is a myth. Obama reached out to more moderarte senators such as Susan Collins and then senator Olympia Snowe. Republican pressure forced them to back out.
Of course it was government run healthcare. It was 10,000 pages of government control over healthcare.

Nevertheless Obama still forced obamacare without bipartisan support

and the nation has been divided ever since

You mean he refused to give Republicans veto power over a desperately needed healthcare bill. Republicans divided the nation.

It was not government run healthcare. Government has every right to regulate healthcare. In this case, the whole thing was constitutional including the mandate.

It was not no matter how you try to deny it.

False it expanded Medicaid

The unintended consequences of government policy never ceases to amaze me - and surprise liberals

during WWII government imposed wage controls on private industry

in order to lure desperately needed workers large companies like Ford and GM offered free healthcare instead of higher pay

and from then till now the private sector has been blamed for government stupidity

That's about as much proof for your claims as you ever provide.

Government creates 10,000 pages of regulations controlling healthcare, and then idiots like busybee01 claim it's not government run healthcare.

The core point is you are trying to paint Obama as a Uniter and a President who could work with people across the aisle. That is a fallacy. Obama struggled to get along with people in his own party.
I think he had big aspirations but was quickly burned by Republicans who made it 100% clear that any cooperation with Obama was going to result in problems for them.

You are painting Obama as a uniter and blaming Republicans is a joke. Working with Republicans was all talk with Obama. Again, “cooperation” among Democrats like Obama means “my way”. Obama has never compromised. His actions speak louder than words.

That's bullshit.

The Democrats stayed united to defeat every reasonable amendment that the GOP brought forward. They insisted that Christian outfits like Hobby Lobby and the Little Sisters of the Poor be required to pay for Sex Changes and Abortions. Obama never gave an inch, didn't negotiate at all with Republicans.
And the communist democrats continued more of the same under Trump. Sen. Good-for-Nothing and Piglosi obstructed the operation of this country for four years.

Obama could have gone to Capitol Hill and found out what the Republicans wanted and put it in the bill. He could have gone on the radio on Limbaugh's program and others and got ideas from the people.

And what did they want other than to oppose Obama at all costs?

What the Republicans wanted was tremendous healthcare of high quality, that would save the people money and have no mandates.

But we are making progress and reversing your indoctrination.
You funny guy

its not revisionist history

dems were giddy with power and did not think they had to compromise with republicans
They didn’t have to compromise with Republicans, but they tried anyway.

How often do you offer to work with people who won’t sit down with you?
