Obama was a natural born citizen: he was born in the US. Natural born status follows place of birth.

And President Chester Arthur had circumstances very similar to Obama's. He too was born in the US. But his father was Canadian Irish and not a citizen at the time of Arthur's birth. Yet Arthur's eligibility to be president was never questioned......until a rumor was started that he was actually born in Canada. Why did the location matter, but his parentage didn't?
