Alec Baldwin Will Be Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter in Rust Shooting

Is Alex Baldwin an expert with guns as you are?
Are you just stupid or what? No one with any sense gets a gun handed to them and doesn't check to see if it's loaded. On the other hand, Hollywood uses tons of fake guns killing each other off in the movies. It's conceivable the mindset that it was just a prop gun prevailed over safety.

Chauvin is in prison for life and Baldwin would only get 18 months if convicted. Celebrity justice.

If The person Baldwin killed was black he would have been put in jail immediately and charged with murder.

It's official now

The movie’s prop armorer faces the same charges. The assistant director, responsible for on-set safety, pleads guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Maybe their laws are almost the same as ours out there. :dunno:

“The prosecution will seek to prove Baldwin had a duty to inspect the gun himself, he knew it had previously discharged, he pulled the trigger despite denying it, that his finger shouldn’t have been near the trigger, he shouldn’t have cocked the hammer, or some combination of those factors,”

Alec Baldwin has been charged with involuntary manslaughter over the 2021 death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the movie set of Rust.

The actor is one of three cast and crew members charged over the accidental shooting, New Mexico first judicial district attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies announced on Thursday (19 January).

The first assistant director on Rust, David Halls, has agreed to plead guilty to the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Meanwhile, the film’s amourer Hannah Gutierrez Reed has also been charged with involuntary manslaughter in the incident.

The decision comes more than 15 months after the fatal shooting in October 2021, which occurred when a prop gun held by Baldwin discharged on set. A single bullet struck director Joel Souza in the shoulder before fatally striking Hutchins in the chest.
So much for her planned career.

Not a fan of him but it’s the armorer’s fault.
Not really. It's the responsibility of the guy pulling the trigger to make sure he knows what's going to happen when he does. It's not like the gun is so complicated that someone who knows he's going to use one on a set can't quickly learn how to ensure it's not deadly.

In the real world, responsibility for the shooting falls on the producer who okayed a gun on set without clearly communicated regulations on how to handle it safely, the guy who brought live ammo to the set, the guy who loaded the gun with the live ammo and not the blanks, the guy who handed the gun to Baldwin without making sure there was no live ammo in it, and, ultimately, Baldwin, who pulled the trigger without knowing for sure it wasn't deadly. Since he pulled the trigger, he's the one in the hot seat.

Baldwin is also the producer on the film, so it was his responsibility to make sure the armorer was competent (failed), the gun was safe (failed), the actor was trained (failed), and the production had the proper safety oversight (failed).

He pointed a gun at a person and pulled the trigger.
Baldwin was handed the pistol by the professional armorer who's job is to make sure the weapon is safe and and only contains blanks in the chambers.
She is criminally responsible by failing to do her job, and should be charged.

I have no doubt that Baldwin will end up in Civil court and be sued for $millions
But finding him guilty in Criminal court will be a stretch.

I have to disagree with that. He could have aimed just off of the girl and it would still look great for a camera shot.
