So the 6 Police officers, three of them Black hello? have been charged at warp speed, no doubt under pressure from the growing riots. Baltimore is not rioting and is once more united now that the problem has been identified. Hooray! Now let's walk through some probable outcomes.
1) There will be less businesses open to serve this community as some will not rebuild from the destruction, or just move to a less dangerous location.
2) The businesses that remain will be better armed and more likely to use weapons against perpetrators, rioters or robbers.
3) Already limited funds will be diverted toward more Police surveillance i.e. body cameras, in-vehicle cameras, street level cameras and more training. That means less money to hire new Police Officers to an already understaffed force. In other words less Police, more violence.
4) Al Sharpton will beat his chest in victory and not address his enormous tax debts.
I have not heard one word about the 57 Black men murdered in Baltimore this year, and what can be done to reduce that number. Don't they matter at all? Those families wont benefit from all this publicity and the inevitable Civil Suit they will file against the Baltimore Police.
Like everyone else I don't know exactly how he was injured, but he didn't deserve to die like that. No question that those officers are responsible for negligence, maybe more but again only the officers know the answer to that. But when ALL of the attention is focused on the end game of one tragic event then nothing will improve the community and the Freddie Grays will just keep coming.
