Ann Romney: Mormon missions and U.S. military are ‘different ways of serving’

Hey, even though i'm a Christian, i would be the LAST one to say i'm perfect! I swear, i like my beer, i don't always have the best thoughts....i'm not a hypocrite.

But your are. You say i have no idea what you believe? I think i do....

i do not want to see a mormon elected as president...i do not want to see religious service equated with military service....

20 bucks says you voted for Obama and Clinton if you were old enough to vote. Not voting for someone because of their religion clearly makes you a bigot and nobody has said religious and military service are equal.

Well actually sonny boy, Queen Ann said they are different. She did not say they are unequal.

And, she's right. She said her boys have gone to
France, England, Australia and Chile as part of their obligation to the Mormon church.

And, I would definietely have to agree all of those are WAY different from Iraq or Afghanistan. Guess not much gets past that evil entitled lying broad.

Tell people who are escorted across hostile borders in war time by missionaries that missionaries help only their church.

Got a link for actual instances where this happened, or is this more of your "I know someone who told me about someone else who said this person did that"?

please don't piss down my back and tell me it's raining.

the purpose of missionary work is to convert people.

yeah. Missionary work is designed to bring people to Christ. To make bad men good, and good men better.

How is helping people better themselves by bringing them to Christ bad for society?

Actually, how does that directly benefit this country?

I served in the U.S. Navy from 1982 until 2002, so I'm pretty well aware what the military does directly for this country.

"
The American Missionary Association (AMA) was a Protestant-based abolitionist group founded on September 3, 1846 in Albany, New York. The main purpose of this organization was to abolish slavery, to educate African Americans, to promote racial equality, and to promote Christian values. Its members and leaders were of both races and chiefly affiliated with Congregationalist, Methodist and Presbyterian churches."

Yeah, tell that to people who have had missionaries build wells in their villages, who are providing teachers and medical care for their children, who are being fed by missionaries.

there are missionaries building wells in american villages?

really?

link?

none of those are mormons, allie, and it's not 1846 any more, dearie..

you people crack me up

So because you were in that Navy, you know more than ANYONE else.
You're not the only one that's been in the military for that many years, and i know quite a few of them that would say you are full of shit.

Quick question Kaiser Twit..............do the Mormon missionaries belong to that group?

Good question. Does it do anything to reduce our debt, does it provide jobs? Does it do anything to promote a positive perception of America?

As far as I can tell, it does nothing for the country. All it does is help their religion expand.

Man oh man, If the Obama's were missionaries we wouldn't ever hear all this petty bull from you people

No, because if the Obamas were missionaries and tried to compare their service to their church with the 20 years of service that I have personally given to this country via the U.S. Navy, I'd say they were full of shit as well.

Missionary service does not directly benefit this country, it directly benefits the church.

Military service directly benefits this country and ALL the people who live here, not just 1 church.

Look, thank you for serving, but you would NOT say anything if it were the Obama's and you shouldn't because it isn't a BIG DEAL..Missionary service doesn't just help their church they do a lot of good work for PEOPLE..remember them? How any of you can act OFFENDED over something so trivial is beyond me

How is helping people better themselves by bringing them to Christ bad for society?

When the people involved turn into pushy, judgmental, religious fanatics who then seek to impose their own religious views on others, whether or not the others want to hear about those views.

You're just bitter that the Democrat Party doesn't have a monopoly on that kind of behavior.

The purpose of missionary work is to aid people body and soul.

Strictly speaking, the real purpose of missionary work is to spread diseases and show dem backward natives the joys of white bread and flatulence.

Really, there isn't much you can say to defend missionaries. Whether they are Jehovah's Witness or the damn morms, they are knocking on your door because their way is The Right Way and they are going to save you from your way which, obviously, is The Wrong Way.

I deal with them by closing the door in their face. I don't call them dirty names even though they call me dirty names (that's the job of a missionary). I don't raise my voice and I don't slam the door.

I quietly close the door and forget about them.

well actually they do, just leave out the religious part...

What the fuck is "that Navy"? As far as I know, it's been pretty much the same Navy since it's inception during the Revolutionary war.

Do I know that I'm not the only one who's retired or served in the military? What the fuck are you, stupid? Of course I do, as I was a Personellman, who was responsible for all the paperwork.

And.............I never said that I know any more than anyone else. I simply said that comparing a Mormon mission to the U.S. Military is a bunch of crap at best, because the missionaries don't have to deal with even half the things that the military does, and I was basing that on my experience as well as the experiences of the commands I served with who sent volunteers out into places when asked.

Besides..............if a Mormon mission was attacked, who do you think is going to be called on to rescue them? That's right..............the military.

And..............exactly what am I full of shit about? My military service? If that's your bitch, my pension and ID card would beg to differ.

Sorry stupid, but you don't know how or what I think. Matter of fact, I was personally against Clinton for his lying about Monica Lewinsky, and I even voted for Jr. on his first term.

But............wrapped up in your partisan hackery, you apparently are incapable of seeing people as independents.

Now you're talking about the homosexual lobby.

Try to stick to the subject, gomer.

Ringing doorbells with a Book of Mormon in your hand is not the same thing as fighting in the armed forces of our country. There is no comparison whatsoever. Yes, trying to spread the Word of Christ is laudable - for those to whom such is important. But there are those for whom such is totally unimportant. How are Mormon missionaries serving those folks?

Serving in the military serves everyone in our country. I doubt that there is anyone in America who would not object to having some foreign form of government shoved down their throat. I suspect there are quite a few in America who would object to having some form of religion shoved down their throat.

Another significant distinction: Solders are paid by the government. Mormon missionaries are part of a private organization.
