Man goes on shooting rampage in Calif.; 3 killed - Live5News.com | Charleston, SC | News, Weather, Sports

A lunatic took a shotgun, and just selected random people in busy roadways and shopping centers to kill. His rampage continued, with 3 dead and others wounded, until the cops closed in and the coward killed himself. A few points:

- Everybody called 911. Begging for the cops to come help them, to protect them. Just a note to think about with local, state and federal budget talks. Your ass is protected by layers of men with guns. Some protect you from foreign invasion. Some protect you from lunatics like this.

- Not 1 single 'armed citizen' stepped up. Lots of witnesses. Lots of bystanders. Nobody stepped up. They simply called 911 begging for cops to come save their asses.

We keep seeing these mass shootings. And almost every time, the asshole is stopped either when he kills himself, or by a cop shooting him. I know it has happened, but it just seems rare to hear about a heroic private armed citizen stepping up rather than hiding behind cover and hoping the cops show up quick.

How do you know there was an armed citizen present?

That no one shot the bad guy is evidence of...what, exactly?

Simple odds and stats of gun ownership. Someone out there had a gun. Its foolish to think otherwise.

I see. So you ASSUMED someone had a gun in a state that is one of the strictest gun law states in the country.

Who is being foolish, again?

How long did it take the Police to get there? Apparently he shot himself so it's armed citizens 0 and Cops 0 on this one.

I assume it because there are a shitload of guns in California....laws or not.

What is the deifinition of a mass shooting? More than 1, or 2?

It seems rare that people use guns for defensive purposes because you are not looking for that type of news. You are not interested in information, you are looking for affirmation. You found it.

The cops get an "assist" haha! The coward, like the Va Tech shooter, knew once the cops got close, he was dead. So he killed himself. Had the cops not shown up and closed in, he'd have kept killing. Same with the Connecticut incident.

But sure, it took the cops a while. Our society is supporting budget cuts for PD's. So there are far fewer cops now. Its gonna take a minute.

In the meantime, try calling the Army or Marine base. They protect you too, and society likes them a lot more, Im sure they'll head right over.

The shooting took place in Orange County, California.

To receive a CCW License in Orange County you must pay the requisite fees, be fingerprinted, pass state and federal background checks, receive 16 hours of training from an approved CCW trainer, have your weapon or weapons (max 3) inspected by Sheriff's Department personnel, and, most importantly, establish good cause for issuance of the license.

While the Orange County Sheriff's Department's criteria for issuance of a CCW License are reasonable, the county is not 'shall issue'. You need to be able to articulate a 'good cause' for issuance. The desire for personal protection is not sufficient. However, many people who may think otherwise can demonstrate good cause. Members here who have been through the process can assist you in fine tuning your good cause statement, but the bottom line is this--the good cause you state must be your own, and must be a truthful expression of your circumstances. We will not help you manufacture a good cause statement.

Based on the highly restrictive concealed carry laws in Orange County I just provided, your assumption that a private citizen in the vicinity was armed was pretty stupid.

We should have an "Epic Fail" Section, the OP would fit right in.

1. Only criminals have firearms in the Peoples Republic of California

2. Police and fire are not Federal, no matter how may time you continue to repeat your insanity

Ah. So strict gun laws do not stop outlaws from having guns! That is what you are saying. And an outlaw with a gun should have shot the outlaw with a gun.

Interesting.

California is anti-gun, home of Feinstein. Of course no citizen was armed.

Did it ever occur to you that we don't hear about mass shootings being stopped by armed citizens because the massacre DIDN'T HAPPEN? It's not a newsworthy massacre story if a citizen stopped it from happening in the first place. And I can point to the mall shooter recently who was stopped by an armed citizen.
