scar tissue from the virus.Again the shear ignorance. What kind of person are you to assume you somehow know?Theyāre available because they work for something. Thereās no knowledge if they work for COVID.I know how they work. People are sedated because itās uncomfortable. Their lungs arenāt paralyzed (usually), this isnāt a polio epidemic. Their lungs are stiff, inflamed and canāt absorb oxygen easily. Theyāre necessary when the virus causes severe inflammation called ARDS.Raise your hand if you know how a ventilator works.
Patient is sedated and lungs are paralyzed. Itās a last ditch action. We donāt need as many ventilators as is claimed by the media.
They are not used in every COVID situation. The media would have you believe so. If you know how they work, you know they are end of life. They are not commonly used.
Depends on what you mean by commonly. Theyāre used in hospitals all the time. They are not end of life. Far from it. If ventilation were futile, they wouldnāt be used in the first place.
Like the drugs Darunavir, Nelfinavir, Saquinavir, Moexipril; the chemotherapy drugs Daunorubicin and Mitoxantrone; the painkiller Metamizole; the antihistamine Bepotastine; and the antimalarial drug Atovaquone.
What was your point? You googled a list of drugs you know nothing about?
Why are they available if they donāt work? Your inane dumb fucking post deserved a list of potential drugs that could work and are under trial.
Orange Man Bad..we know.
And you canāt claim there are not en Ugh ventilators.
Give us an example of someone needing a ventilator that was not provided one.
As I have said in other threads, my son is a Respiratory Specialist, my daughter is an RT and her husband is a Paramedic. All three are directly providing care to CV patients. Particularly my daughter, who has pod responsibility of adult ICU. Her hospital is using CPAPs instead of vents for several patients. They do not have enough vents. Now imagine o yourself how fucking difficult it is to decide who gets one and who doesn't. Knowing full well the one who doesn't may die or suffer permanent damage because if it.

Correct;Raise your hand if you know how a ventilator works.

They are used when the muscles of the chest are too weak to fully open and inflate the lungs. This condition usually ends with the patient drowning in their own fluids. By giving a patient the drug hydrocoriquine this stops the bodies attack on the lungs and allows pneumonia to clear in about 70% of those affected.
The same media who try to attack the anti viral anti inflamatory drug that's been used for such purpose for a long time, would rather you not take anti inflamatories so that your lungs will inflate and cause the need for ventilators, just so they can hoard them in wharehouses and claim the Gov't didn't assist obtaining them (as a mere tactical political talking point).Raise your hand if you know how a ventilator works.

When your talking about a traumatic brain injury to the brain stem, or severely damaged lung tissue, yeah theyāre often a last ditch effort. But thatās not what weāre dealing with here. Youāre dealing with inflammation, from an infection, that gets so bad itās extremely painful too breath, as well as a lower rate of transfer of gasses from the outside into the bloodstream, and vise versa. So for people with high blood pressure, and this infection thatās making them take shallower breaths, and lowering gas exchange in the lungs...yeah ventilators making them take as deep of breaths as possible increasing exchange are a good idea.Raise your hand if you know how a ventilator works.

Azithromicin or Zinc is given in conjunction to stop the bacterial infection that is secondary and accompanies the pneumonia. The New study of 1000 patients that came out last night from France identified that the use of these drugs in concert earlier in the diseases progression stops the need to be placed on a ventilator 99.9% of the time.Correct;Raise your hand if you know how a ventilator works.

Great. The media should report this.

But if I needed it, I'd take those odds. 1 in 3 is better than nothing.Mortality rate of COVID-19 patients on ventilators - Physician's Weekly
Written by Physician's Weekly Blogger, Skeptical Scalpel Although at the time I wrote this over 33,000 people had died from COVID 19 infections worldwide, the numbers of patients dying in intensive care units and on mechanical ventilation is unknown. We have some early published data on...www.physiciansweekly.com
"Of the 98 patients who received advanced respiratory supportādefined as invasive ventilation, BPAP or CPAP via endotracheal tube, or tracheostomy, or extracorporeal respiratory supportā66% died."

NY's massive drop off is in line with them starting the trials of the drug pair.. 7 days and ventilator needs dropped like a rock..
Yes, I get your point. I was just commenting that sometimes patients on ventilators DO pull through. Another poster said it was more like 50-50. Hopefully, the new drug combo will prevent a lot of people from getting that bad.I know how they work. People are sedated because itās uncomfortable.
