Art As Servant of The State

Under the Progressive President Wilson, the official position of the US government's Committee on Public Information was: "The force of an idea lies in its inspirational value. It matters very little if it is true or false."

yeah, he got the idea from the bible he read....

You couldn't be more wrong.
You could try....but you wouldn't succeed.

The Bible served as the basis for our Constitution.
1. The most quoted source was the Bible. Established in the original writings of our Founding Fathers we find that they discovered in Isaiah 33:22 the three branches of government: Isaiah 33:22 “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.” Here we see the judicial, the legislative and the executive branches. In Ezra 7:24 we see where they established the tax exempt status of the church: Ezra 7:24 “Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.”

When we look at our Constitution we see in Article 4 Section 4 that we are guaranteed a Republican form of government, that was found in Exodus 18:21: “Moreover thou shalt provide out of all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them, to be rulers of thousands, and rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens:” This indicates that we are to choose, or elect God fearing men and women. Looking at Article 3 Section 3 we see almost word for word Deuteronomy 17:6: ‘No person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the testimony of two Witnesses. . .’ Deuteronomy 17:6 “At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses. . .”. The next paragraph in Article 3 Section 3 refers to who should pay the price for treason. In England, they could punish the sons for the trespasses of the father, if the father died.

2. As is true of all Progressives, Woodrow Wilson despised the Constitution.
Justly revered as our great Constitution is, it could be stripped off and thrown aside like a garment, and the nation would still stand forth in the living vestment of flesh and sinew, warm with the heart-blood of one people, ready to recreate constitutions and laws. …

Too bad you never paid attention in school.
Too bad you can't see the forest for the trees, as the invention of the printing press was suppressed by the church in Rome..It carried a death penalty for anyone reprinting the Bible in the vernacular or any language which was not in Latin... oppression and extreme editing was the form the church took...Not the secular sections of print...

Later, Wilson used media cause that is what Britannia was doing during the war...Uncle Sam is really an idea formed by the British.. And now for the collective killer, private industry used the medium to push it's products, even the bad ones..
If you don't like Wilson, I know you hate Roosevelt, the GOP one, since he was one of the biggest progressives and actually started the whole sha-bang..But you never bad mouth your boys, you seem to have a damn good pair of horse blinders on....

You claimed that Wilson got his fascism from the Bible.
Clearly, not the case.

He got his Progressive beliefs from Hegel, and German political philosophy....as do all Progressives/Liberals/Democrats.

    1. The Germans have a history of embracing authoritarian rule. As the German philosopher Hegel said, “The state says … you must obey …. The state has rights against the individual; its members have obligations, among them that of obeying without protest” (Ralf Dahrendorf, Society and Democracy in Germany).
See how neatly you and the rest of the Liberals/Progressives fall under that explanation.

Seig Heil!

One possibility.....

...but not the only one, especially under totalitarian rule.

It is enlightening to view another totalitarian regime, to see the result to artists who resist obeying the regime....

4. Progressive Woodrow Wilson referred to men as 'clay,' to be molded by leaders. This is a staunch belief of totalitarians. Stalin referred to writers as 'the engineers of human souls.'

"He didn't understand that talented writers cannot go against their talent and survive, that they cannot be engineers. Talentless writers can, or they can try; it was a good thing to be a talentless writer in the USSR, and a very bad thing to be a talented one."
Martin Amis.

b. "Osip Mandelstam[1] ... was a Russian poet and essayist who lived in Russia during and after its revolution and the rise of the Soviet Union and husband of Nadezhda Mandelstam... He was arrested by Joseph Stalin's government during the repression of the ... In 1938 Mandelstam was arrested again and sentenced to a camp in Siberia. He died that year at a transit camp.

Mandelstam's non-conformist, anti-establishment tendencies were not heavily disguised. He opposed the increasingly totalitarian government under Joseph Stalin. In the autumn of 1933, he composed the poem "Stalin Epigram", which he read at a few small private gatherings in Moscow. The poem was a sharp criticism of the "Kremlin highlander". It was likely inspired by Mandelstam's having seen the effects of the Great Famine that year, during his vacation in the Crimea. This was the result of Stalin'scollectivisation in the USSR and his drive to exterminate the "kulaks"."

Don't ever change.

Almost as bad as being burned for maybe being a witch, or a protestant in a catholic nation during re-reformation..

2. Propaganda is the means by which charismatic leadership, circumventing intermediary social and political institutions like parliaments, parties, and interest groups, gains direct hold upon the masses.

And no institution better fits that description than the rightwing propaganda machine in all areas of the modern media.

One of the great ironies is how artists, writers, poets, creative folks...and intellectuals, tend to be supporters, of the Left: They exhibit a talent centered on individuality...yet toil, provide propaganda, for the collective.

.... their rewards when the communists take over are not what they might expect.

There are lessons from the past that seem not to sink in, thus the saying about Liberals...'feeling passes for knowing.'

But, credit where credit is due: the use of the arts in order to persuade the electiorate, rather than pointing to the efficacy of their policies, is just one more example of how the Left is light years ahead in manipulation the populace.

1. "The term “propaganda” apparently first came into common use in Europe as a result of the missionary activities of the Catholic church. In 1622 Pope Gregory XV created in Rome the 'Congregation for the Propagation of the Faith.' This was a commission of cardinals charged with spreading the faith and regulating church affairs in heathen lands. A College of Propaganda was set up under Pope Urban VIII to train priests for the missions.

In its origins “propaganda” is an ancient and honorable word. Religious activities which were associated with propaganda commanded the respectful attention of mankind. It was in later times that the word came to have a selfish, dishonest, or subversive association.

The pens of Voltaire and Rousseau inflamed opposition to Bourbon rule in France, and during the revolution Danton and his fellows crystallized attitudes against the French king just as ... Tom Paine had roused and organized opinion in the American Revolution." The Story of Propaganda

2. Propaganda is the means by which charismatic leadership, circumventing intermediary social and political institutions like parliaments, parties, and interest groups, gains direct hold upon the masses.

a. “The most damning blow that the dictatorships have struck at democracy has been the compliment that they have paid us by taking over (and perfecting) our most prized devices of persuasion and our underlying contempt for the credulity of the masses.” Max Lerner “The Pattern of Fascism,” Yale Review, vol.14, p. 310.

3. Explicit state propaganda rarely exists in the classical liberal-democracies because constitutions prohibit the executive from controlling public opinions. But…in times of crisis, the legislative branch may grant such powers to the executive. In the US, we saw this for the first time, on a broad front, during WWI. Under Woodrow Wilson, the US was first nation to have a propaganda arm.

During WW I, under the Progressive Woodrow Wilson, American was a fascist nation.
a. Had the world’s first modern propaganda ministry

It's human nature. People will believe anything, and usually do. It's easy to get folks to believe things. To many, propaganda is speaking the gospel, and they swallow every word. An example would be campaign speeches. Yes, the written word is a powerful tool, and is not always used with the best intentions. The problem lies in the gullibility of people, and their willingness to follow the masses. We have few independent thinkers, and many sheep following the shepherd.

In today's world of communication technology, word travels fast, has many avenues to use, and can be accessed by anyone and everyone. So, when folks are constantly flooded with views, opinions, data, stats, and half-truths, it's natural for many to be influenced in ways that are not in their best interest.
Views, opinions, data, stats, and half-truths, are certainly part of a free society.

That concept is a great thing, even in the hands of people who will believe anything.

There is a reality that we simply have to accept, and that's the fact that not all people are a smart as me.

Everybody is always smarter and less gullible than everybody else

Thank God we all have news networks that perpetuate that, instead of death squads coming after us when we say something smarter than our politicians say
