Bernie Sanders is never going to be president.
And he knows this, so he spends his time trying to highlight things that are a problem in our country. We have a great system if you have the money and the insurance, but get sick in-between insurance and you can be fucked for life.
A co-wroker's boyfriend was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when uninsured. An ER visit, where he found out he had it, and 4 days in the hospital has left him with a bill he will not be able to pay off if he lives to 80. Add to this the treatments and meds necessary and his whole life is now tied to getting sick at the wrong time.
Again... subjective, singular, isolated, one of a kind story. I really get tired of people using anecdotal, one off examples and then say "it happens all the time"! Geez... quit using one-off, personalized subjective i.e. "a co-worker's boyfriend". Please think before using anecdotal one off experience and make it sound like it "happens all the time"... IT DOESN"T happen all the time!
I guess I could instead be like you and stick my head in the sand and pretend it is not a problem...but I do not choose to live in ignorance
Do Medical Bills Really Bankrupt America's Families?
So why then do you defend the lawyers that according to the following survey In March 2009, Jackson Healthcare invited 124,572 physicians to participate in a confidential online survey in an effort to quantify the costs and impact of defensive medicine. Over 1,400 physicians spanning all states and medical specialties completed the survey, a 1.13 percent response rate.
$1 Trillion a year in wasted defensive medicine expenditures...all because physicians don't want to be sued!
