The Supreme Court on Wednesday shot down a lawsuit against the Biden administration over its efforts to urge social media companies to take down alleged misinformation about Covid-19, election fraud and other topics.

Two red states and five social media users do not have legal standing to sue various federal officials over their communications with the tech platforms, the court held in a 6-3 ruling.

The court’s majority — which consisted of three conservative justices and three liberals — said that the role of the social media companies in establishing and enforcing their content-moderation policies meant the plaintiffs weren’t directly censored by the government. The majority also noted that the social media platforms were not named as defendants in the case.

Of immediate significance, the decision means that the Department of Homeland Security may continue to flag posts to social media companies such as Facebook and X that it believes may be the work of foreign agents seeking to disrupt this year’s presidential race.

The 5th circuit again is smacked down for operating well outside normal bounds. Same was true for the mifepristone decision. They couldn’t even get standing.

They’re a bunch of activist judges.

Another win for the good guys.

Crazy that it takes a Supreme Court ruling to prove what has been completely obvious from the start. These delusional conspiracy theories the Trump crowd tosses around are nothing but a waste of time. Useful idiots like Lastamender need to start learning some lessons here

Next waste of time case they are entertaining is the absolute immunity nonsense. Trump is making our nation dumber by the day

They are a waste of time but each citizen has the right to push them if they wish

I agree, individuals can push whatever they want. But for so many ridiculous narratives to get so much attention is an embarrassment. No way some of these cases should have ascended up to the Supreme Court. They should have been laughed at by any decent attorney

I'm not dancing until the immunity case comes down. Ultimately it is the unitary theory of exec power that would agree with Nixon that if the President orders it, it's legal.

All the regular big Govt, nanny state loving fools are happy about this ruling.

Let the Govt choose what is true or not, what could ever go wrong
The gov never chose a thing. These businesses made their own choices. Yall just decided to lie and spin by calling it censorship when it really wasn’t.

Your conservative Supreme Court agrees

Social media companies remain at liberty to post disinformation and lies regardless what the government might urge.

This is good news for the upcoming Trump administration.

I’m glad to see you are against big gov nanny state though… how do you feel about the other case in SCOTUS where Trump is looking for absolute immunity for the prez?

Sure...when an entity with the power to destroy your business urges you to do something, it is no different than you or I asking :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301: :laughing0301:

It would be the end of the nation if one man is ruled to be above all laws of the land. We are already on the down slide, but this would be like cutting the head off someone to cure their headache.
