Public records are a pesky thing.

Democratic frontrunner Joe Biden again misrepresented his previous stance on the Iraq war, claiming he “came out against the war” the “moment it started” despite defending his vote to authorize force in Iraq months after the war began.

After laughing at the notion that critics question his judgement on foreign policy, Biden inaccurately defended his record on the Iraq War in an interview with the NPR Politics Podcast. While acknowledging his Senate vote to authorize the war, Biden claimed he opposed combat efforts as soon as the “shock and awe” bombing campaign and invasion began.

He's right that the authorization of force was about inspections and over 6 mos before W invaded despite inspections showing nothing. But the question is what did he say on March 19 2003 and shortly thereafter. Obama was clearly opposed. Trump was for it before he was against it, and he may be for it again now for what anyone can tell.

imo the best one can say about Biden is he's tried to have it both ways. He waited until 2005 or 2006 to admit he'd been "hoodwinked" by W, who had decided to invade no matter what before the vote on war or inspections in Oct 2002. Hillary did the same. Ted and Russfiengold were consistently against it. But they were in the minority who opposed the war before Americans realized W had led them to aWagmire and opinion turned. Then most of the dems opposed got on board. Including Biden and Hillary.

He just forgot about it. Did not recall the incident.

Then again the Brits had passed information to the CIA who passed them on to the President who trusted them. Sort of like the Russian warrant file.

If we had a litmus test of only those clearly opposed to W's manufactured crisis justifying a war in May of 2003, no one running for potus in either party would meet the test. Maybe Bernie, but I don't know. I wouldn't vote for him in a primary because of his econ views. It's a depressing lot of candidates.

And honestly, I'd still rather see Rubio, and I'm sure he was cheering from the sidelines while the boys marched off ill equipped, ill led and not having any clue as to how to fght an insurgency

Hillary and Biden said we must invade.

Chew on it.

Had the war went like the first war against Iraq both Clinton and Biden would have said they were for it but when it dragged on past one hundred hours they knew then they screwed the pooch.

Thing is Biden is hoping the younger generation will not fact check his comments and they just vote for him but in today information age, well he better just admit he made a mistake...

No they voted to invade unless Saddam let inspectors in, which Saddam did. But they also did not oppose the actual invasion when it occurred in May 2003

"it was the most extraordinarily dispiriting experience i've ever had. i mean he literally knew nothing" - Iowa voter on meeting Biden

Biden got "hoodwinked" by W. And I doubt many millennials and younger really care. They will vote like most of us do based on their perception of who will pursue policies to make their individual lives better.

Twenty years of votes can tell you much more about a man than 20 weeks of campaign rhetoric. Campaign talk tells people who you want them to think you are. How you vote tells people who you really are deep inside.

Trump, Harris, Warren, Beto and Pete don't have 20 years of votes.

Biden is a center left guy, who is a decent sort for a pol, who has voted for capital over labor, but with regulations and policies/programs that benefit labor at the expense of capital.

the 16 election was partially (or mostly) decided by people who hadn't benefited as much as others in the econ expansion of 2008-16, and who felt Obama let them down. We had <1% inflation, 2% growth, declining deficits, and those of us with decent jobs were ok, if you were a newly college minted professional or person w/o a college degree, things were not so rosy, because growth was too low to create consumer demand to get capital to expand and for a job to be created that you fit.

Hillary was as loathsome as the Orange One, so he got a pass on being a piss poor excuse for a human. I don't think Biden has any ideas that would have applied to the situation in 16, let alone what is occurring now, and I'm not sure Trump's loathsomeness is enough to carry Biden over the top.

But threads like these show the Trump need to try and lie to put Biden on the same loathsome ground Trump creeps upon.

Then why the hell vote for either political party?

BS. Do I need to post Hillary’s speech AGAIN?

Look, the OP is simply bullshit and disengenuos, and I'm being charitable here.

And Iraq was not a moment in courage for either Joe or Hill. But keep it bordering on what really happened. And Trump is an embarrassment on this issue and everything else.

In his defense, he has been demonstrating that he is bordering on senility....He may have forgotten.

Joe doesn't respect borders.
