He is right that if the mRNA vaccines really worked, the epidemic would be over already.
So we need to acknowledge the fact they never really worked, and look into different REAL vaccines that actually have dead viruses in them, that we know work.

The problem is we have a virus that keeps mutating into different variants every few months, rendering the vaccine less effective. The mRNA vaccines worked great for the strains of COVID before Omnicron and Delta, less effective with Delta and really reduced effectiveness against Omnicron...still it was able to keep off serious disease and hospitalizatons for many.

So Maher is wrong the mRNA vaccines have worked well up until Omnicron hit.

Novavax also introduces trillions of spike proteins into your body, so I wouldn't get too excited about that one either. It has the benefit of not fucking with your genetic system and a known limit on spike proteins (whtever they are injecting vs. whatever your body decides and for how long), but if you believe that spike proteins are toxic, this vax is not for you either.

That is obviously wrong.
First of all, mutations take longer than that.
The reality is that all variants likely existed before the epidemic even started.
Second is that the vaccine does not have real virus so can't tell what variant it is trying to infect you.
The only thing the mRNA does is cause your own cells to start growing spike proteins, which can not change per variant. The spike protein is to open the ACE2 receptors on cells, so can not change.
No mRNA can be variant specific at all, in any way.
Third is that mRNA NEVER worked well. It always lasted less than 6 months.
The claim about variants was a lie as a coverup for the shortness of effectiveness.
The reality is the mRNA puts nothing into T-cell memory, and just temporarily stimulates antibodies for local clean up of spike protein debris.
