Within the visual, the white student states, “You know what, girl, you have no right to tell me what I cannot wear,” while the woman laid out why his hairstyle was an act of cultural appropriation. As he proceeded to walk away from the encounter, the woman reached out her hand to grab him. Given this gesture, the university announced that they plan to launch an investigation into the young black woman, The Root reports, and released a statement on the matter.
