So now a lot of people are going to try to justify this cop gunning down this kid. The police have the right to apprehend and arrest criminals, and to defend themselves when necessary. The officer in question did all of those things up to a point, then he crossed the line. Anyone can make a reasonable argument that the officer was defending himself leading up to the first shot that he fired. The problem is that after the first shot, the officer apparently followed up by shooting this kid in the back a few times and then shot him when he had his hands in the air.

Now this kid may well have been a punk looking for trouble, but that does not change the fact that cops can't just go around killing people. If it is allowed in this instance, then it will be allowed in many others, and maybe the next time it will be you or me. In fact, a good case can be made that we are seeing so many more instances of police brutality due to the fact that most of them seem to get away with it rather than being sent off to prison where they belong.
