Boehner Caves....

Is that good news or bad news to the left? Republicans always cave because they can't count on the mainstream media to support them.

Right now the ball is in the democrats court. their move to meet the republicans half way. if they haold fast and do not negotiate it becomes very obvious they are willing to let the nation default

The Rs need to meet halfway. They were pressured into coming this far.

They did. they did not get al the other cuts they wanted.. funding EVERYTHING except Obamalamacare fraudacre IS meeting halfway

John Boehner has his head stuck where the sun never shines again. Obama will never negotiate until New York City looks like Atlanta and Savannah after William Tecumsah Sherman got done and Chicago looks like Carthage after the Romans finished.
Hopefully the US Government saved the gallows the Lincoln Assassination plotters were hung on. The people are going to need it to deal with the criminals in this current administration. Anybody catch the name of the Obama Administration ghoul who was Ari Fleischer's opposite last night on Fox. The guy was absolutely beaming with pride and obviously having a difficult time holding back his laughter over the fact that the government had purposefully denied death benefits for the servicemen killed over the weekend in Afghanistan. Beaming like a football player displaying the Heismann Trophy he had just been awarded.

Boehner caving would honestly be the best possible thing for the country.

Boehner is not caving.
Why would Democratic polices be best for us, when everywhere their policies are implemented, it costs more in everything and a large part of the people move out because they can't afford it?

It will be interesting to see, O's reaction. I have held the door open for Boehner to know what he is doing. I have fingers crossed.

Like I said this morning -- the left's answer is to always do nothing and just keep kicking the can down the road.

Not true. The president is throwing Boehner a lifeline. I disagree with these terms but he seems to need a foot up his ass to get anything good for the country done.

No they didn't, the CR is written in conservative terms. 986 billion is 70 billion short of what the democrats wanted. ACA isn't even discretionary spending.

they already have. they've made 4 offers with concession. they've offered up additional funding to keep more of the government open. the democrats have accepted nothing and made absolutely no concession form their side. the democrats are the clear obstructionists to progress in this case

he knows that if he lets the Extreme rw of his party tank the world econ, it won't bode well for him or, more importantly, this great nation.

Their paymasters (the Kochs) did come out & tell them to knock off the ACA bashing as it was bad PR for them once it was discovered they were bankrolling it.

OK, let's see if the Dems will talk.

BREAKING NEWS, 11:31: House Republican leaders say they will offer a bill authorizing a temporary increase in the debt ceiling, in exchange for discussions on reopening the government, funding the budget. The bill would avoid a looming, potentially disastrous federal government default. But it would not end the 10-day-old government shutdown, as the White House has demanded.

This story will update soon.

its wasteful spending. let me ask you this. if you go to buy a house you can not afford should the bank give you a mortgage?

I realize you would like for all of this, the shutdown, the threats to be a part of the big picture on the Rs and Teaparty's part but it was for nothing. A lot of people have been hurt by this and now Obamacare isn't even on their mind because they know they can't do a thing about it. It's law.

Hope things go better for Boehner from here out because he will pay a price for this.

I'm not sure how this is "caving" in. It shows Boehner is willing to meet Obama halfway. If Obama says "fuck you, still not negotiating" then Boehner says nevermind about the DL bill and we are back to square one.

This just shows you one side is willing to compromise and talk. It takes two to make a deal though.

If B has to go to the Pubs for the vote because the TeaPs continue with their heads up their asses, the Dems will ask for more.

However . . . it would destroy the TeaPs as a political force in the party. Boehner can easily win a vote to continue as Speaker.

If the Republicans want to hold their breath and hissy fit until Obamacare gets repealed ... that's their own business.

If they shutdown the government to do it - that's everyone's business.

And they are getting hammered for it. Historically low approval rating for the GOP... When they actually stood a chance of holding the House and probably winning the White House as well. Do they really enjoy being out of power so much that they feel the need to sabotage themselves so often?

One side has been "willing" to compromise, for weeks. Now we need for the "holdout" to start cooperating. Will he?

Boehner and Cantor, enjoy:

WASHINGTON (AP) -- GOP aides say House Speaker John Boehner will ask House Republicans to approve a short-term extension of the government's ability to borrow to meet its bills.

The Ohio Republican is slated to urge his staunchly conservative GOP colleagues to act before the government runs out of borrowing authority next week.

Republicans have been insistent that budget cuts and other measures be added to the so-called debt ceiling legislation but the aides wouldn't say whether he'll seek to add other material to the measure.

The aides required anonymity to reveal the information before Boehner makes an announcement after a closed-door meeting with his GOP colleagues.

News from The Associated Press

Why short term? So they can again hold world markets hostage in some come of sick repeat performance of their abuse of office a few weeks from now, like around the holidays?

Whatever happened to the oft repeated GOP message that businesses couldn't plan for the future with so much uncertainty as far as governmental policy was concerned? These guys make a mockery of their own governing philosophy.

The Koch brothers seem to be hurting the teaparty. I will never understand how Republicans can just hand their power as a primary party over to the Teaparty.

Temporary increase in the debt ceiling. It's about time. Now open up government ya dopes.
The deal, dictated to Boner by Lyin' Ryan does not end the GOP shutdown!

But the plan would not reopen the government, which has been closed since last week

In not addressing the shutdown, Republicans would keep pressure on Democrats to negotiate on a package of deficit reduction and tax overhaul proposals.

Representative Tim Griffin, Republican of Arkansas, said that the plan the speaker presented appealed to him because it would give House Republicans some breathing room as they continued to try to plot their next steps.
