CEOs tell Trump that jobs exist, the skills don't

Turns out that majoring in Norwegian Women's Studies does not produce a person with valuable, marketable skills. Maybe some of the snowflake millennial scum should of went to trade school rather than smoke pot and jack off for 4 years.

Trump has been in office a little over a month. Obama had eight freaking long years to ask why American workers don't have the skills to do the job. All we ever heard from Obama's socialist empire was hypocrite rhetoric about corporations, how the U.S. would be weaned off oil and the laughable "cash for clunkers" scheme.
YOU EVER HEAR OF A MOTHERFUCKER CALLED VAN JOHNSON? HE TRIED ADDRESSING THAT ISSUE AND YOU WHITE IGNORANT BUDGET RACIST BITCHES FOUGHT HIM ALL THE GOTDAMNED WAY, NOW SHUT THE FUCK UP!!
I never heard of him :confused-84:

I did hear about GE's Imelt though and thought then why in the world would Obama put that one in charge of anything.

Working in the manufacturing sector sucks. It's hard and often times filthy work. You're considered to be 'labor' and your own management resents having to pay you. Management treats people like shit. They're constantly looking to lay you off to cut expenses. Anybody that wants a job in the manufacturing sector has to be an idiot.

It seems that the Trumpbots want the whole world to go back to the 1950s...when they were children and thought that everything was perfect. Those days are over...no matter how much they want to pretend that the world is the same now as it was then.

If the U.S. is going to go back into manufacturing, it has to be high tech, cutting edge manufacturing. The days of the coal miner and machinist are over.

This is why there's not enough skilled Americans for manufacturing in the U.S. It takes degree'd engineers and scientists to do the work that's needed, simple vocational skills aren't what's needed anymore - they've been automated.

Of course once we start to have enough engineers and scientists, then the pay scale for engineers and scientists will drop like a rock.

From what I am hearing banks and other service industries are doing the same thing.

Why be upset about it? It is not like people had a lot of choice. Either Hiliar or Trump. I prefer Trump over a Clinton any day. GE, DOW, Monsanto, GM, Banksters-mega insurance and others suck. They pushed so we would be forced by legislation to make the whole pay for their crap while they kept right on enriching themselves under Obama's watch.

How sad is this??

One executive said in discussions with White House officials that his company has 50 participants in a factory apprenticeship program, but could take 500 if enough were qualified. But he said that in his experience, most students coming out of high school lack the math and English skills to absorb technical manuals.

If you did well in math and English in HS 9 out of 10 times you are heading to college, not trying to land a manufacturing apprenticeship.

You should be able to take in a manual coming out of HS regardless. Hell, my kid just taught himself JavaScript for a video game and he's not even technically graduated yet...

what about it?

The manufacturing jobs are not coming back in their hundreds of thousands, despite what the Pres says.

The manufacturing classes will have to retrain is the point, even if they don't want to.

Factory jobs exist, CEOs tell Trump. Skills don't.

All the more reason to reform our broken educational system and replace it with one that works for the people instead of the Democrat Party
If it were true, sure.

We need local control of our school board and divorce our state additions to federal DOE money.

Our schools have been so dumbed down to accomodate all the non-whites and illegals, that even white kids can't read now.
It's the hill billy whites that it has been dumbed down for.

Now we have two statements in a row that are just plain stupid.

Trump, stop talking start listening.

I think he was listening at least to an extent. The unfilled jobs aren't a surprise and I put up a link a couple of weeks ago to the effect that about a million manufacturing jobs will come vacant as boomers retire. Robots not Mexicans are the tools. But our education system isn't producing qualified workers. So the good thing about Trump is he puts in a person like DeVos who should (assuming she has any competence) be able to partner industry and education to have journeymen positions like we had in the 70s, where a kid gets his HS classes and on the job training.

But of course, Bannon then has him pissing himself the next day in a media pissing the match which totally takes the news cycle away from jobs.

Lemme guess, CNN or NBC is 'reporting' this Fake News? I didn't check the OP's link. Am i close?

Damn! you are an idiot. The manufacturing jobs were moved off shore to avoid paying decent livable wages.
Yet when Unions raised hell over this you right wing idiots only saw dollar signs and said how horrible Unions were. So, no manufacturing jobs, no training needed. Simple. But you are to stupid to know the difference.
Take "the donald" out of your mouth and think.

That's a pretty sad commentary on our nation's education system. Thanks liberals.

Obama to Sign Bill Improving Worker Training

President Obama said, “We want to make it easier to join students looking for jobs with businesses looking to hire. We want to put community colleges and employers together to create programs that match curricula in the classroom with the needs of the boardroom. Skills for America’s Future would help connect more employers, schools, and other job training providers, and help them share knowledge about what practices work best. The goal is to ensure there are strong partnerships between growing industries and community college or training programs in every state in the country.”
