City Digs Up Remains Of Confederate General After Taking Down Statue

Oh, yes, tear down that monument, dig up his remains, and why not also throw his remains in the nearest river?

I am sure that Richmond now is a paradise, where there is no violent crime, and where everyone loves everyone else.

Indeed, and a major step towards "letting it go".....is quit honoring -- in public tax-payer paid spaces --- the traitors and seditionists who were responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths of loyal Americans, and the ginormous grief and destruction to loyal American families. How many widows, orphans, grief-stricken parents ...... did Lee, Hill, Forrest, and others create in America?

The "Lost Cause" was and is....a feel-good fiction the loser's use to mollify their hurt feelings. Put those statues of the war-criminal Forrest et al, in a private park if destroying them is not an option.
Remember the statement “The south will rise again?’

Well it hasn’t happened as our leaders at the end of the Civil War were smart enough to let the Confederacy honor their dead and their leaders. ,

I have noticed how other nations hold long term grudges over wars that happened centuries ago and felt we were lucky to have avoided that trap with our Civil War.

But now the Democrats are going back to seeking payback for a war that ended in 1865.

Do you know why the Democrats are doing this? They are hoping to keep the black vote that seems to be escaping the Democratic Plantation. The Dems want to convince the blacks that Republicans want to put them back in chains again.

The Dems must think the blacks are really stupid to believe bullshit like that but then the true raciists in our nation are the Democrats. They always promise the blacks diamonds and roses but deliver zirconium and Daisy Weeds.

And therein lies part of the problem.
To wit: the hyper-emotional shrilling over some melodramatic fabrication.
It stokes the screechers. Gins up those who are easily over-wrought.
NO ONE....in authority has suggested throwing Hill's bones in any river.
It is mere caterwauling by the historically ignorant and those who are easily panicked.

IMHO

The people who actually went through the civil war were not all that eager to honor confederate leaders. They called it the "rich man's war". Most of the monuments came along after those with first-hand knowledge were dead. They knew these men deserved no public honors.

Well, speaking of over-wrought panicked silliness.
Exhibit #1: "Payback for the war"??? !!!

I ain't gonna autopsy that shrill screech too vigorously, but......but will concede there was wisdom in A.Lincoln and USGrant in not coming down too hard on the seditionist, insurrectionists, and traitors who conducted the South's war for slavers.

Lincoln himself said.....(in his first inaugural): "We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies." And in his emancipation message in 1863 he offered pardons for all but the leaders of the insurrection. Nowhere did Lincoln or Grant stipulate that Lee, Hill, Forrest, be honored on public ground with statues.

Those men were traitors. They tried to destroy the United States of America.

Duh!

Fair point, but there was no major outcry that stopped the statutes Back then either. Why are we dividing our nation today.

Honestly do you feel many people who drove by Confederate statutes ten years ago even knew who they were or gave a damn about it?

A few years ago a large number of college students had no idea who won the Civil War.

Yes. We must tear down these monuments to systemic exploitation, rape, pedophilia and ritual abuse of women and children

You couldn't find two people in ten that give two shits about civil war monuments. Removing them is not a divisive issue. The few that actually care seem to be the usual far right dickheads that are always pissed off about something anyway.

Well someone has to be fired up to get the statutes removed. It‘s the Democrats who cry racism at everything in their attempt to preserve the black vote forever.

Republicans want to preserve history and study it. It tends to repeat itself.

Generational poverty among tenant farmers was very much the fault of the landlords. There was a big lie back then too. Men were promised land in return for fighting and got doodly-squat.
.

It's safe to say the promise was contingent on winning ...
And they obviously didn't die trying.
The General that got dug up did ...

Not really sure anyone got forty acres and mule either.

History exists in books and records and the ongoing discussions about them. Monuments say only what the people who placed them wanted to say. Confederate monuments are like the Lenin monuments that still exist in some corners of the old Soviet union. They say nothing about the misery and strife of the Bolshevik revolution. They just say this guy was honored with a grand monument.

From posts on this thread

There seems to be a direct link between reb sympathisers and the maga trash who tried to bring down the govt on Jan 6th.

They seem to be the same people.
But how can maga trash feel so strongly about dead democrats ?

When did they leave the Dems ?
