It's a copy of a German rifle, but yeah, I do agree they had the mass manufacturing process down.But I will give them credit for the AK-47. That is one magnificent piece of machinery.

The AK is in no way as complex or well-manufactured as the German StG-44. It was designed to a simple peasant could pick one up and operate it with very little training. The only similarity is that they both used a shortened cartridge, which allowed troops to carry more ammunition, and a large-capacity removable magazine.
But as far as the internal and external design, there are virtually no similarities.

I own an AK but having never disassembled an StG44, I'm not sure. But I do see a similarity in the design of the gas piston and bolt, so I guess the commies did steal part of the design.
