Current Presidential polling in Virginia

Virginia update, 14 February 2015

Since this thread was created, three more Virginia polls have come in:

Roanoke, published 22.07.2014
Roanoke, published 25.09.2014

and CNU (Christopher Newport University), published 12.02.2015.

Both of the Roanokes were taken BEFORE the 2014 mid-terms, but neither can be considered an end-poll in any way, due to the time-frame distance to the election itself.

The CNU poll was of course published AFTER the 2014 mid-terms.

The important news is that since the very first poll of VA for Clinton vs. GOP field was taken in January, 2013, 25 months ago, nothing has changed. Clinton is solidly ahead of the prospective GOP field in a state that used to be a reliably RED state. And she has been ahead the entire time.

So, let's compare the results:

Roanoke, 25.09.2014
Clinton 47
/ Christie 37 / margin = Clinton +10
Clinton 51 / Paul 35 / margin = Clinton +16
Clinton 50 / Ryan 37 / margin = Clinton +13
Clinton 50 / Ryan 37 / margin = Clinton +13

Christopher Newport, 12.02.2015
Clinton 49 / Christie 42 / margin = Clinton +7

Clinton 52 / Paul 42 / margin = Clinton +10
Clinton 52 / Ryan 42 / margin = Clinton +10
Clinton 48 / Bush, J 47 / margin = Clinton +5
Clinton 51 / Rubio 42 / margin = Clinton +9
Clinton 52 / Huckabee 42 / margin = Clinton +10

Just for reference:
1988: Bush 41 +20.50%
1992: Bush 41 +4.37%
1996: Dole +1.96%
2000: Bush +8.04%
2004: Bush 43 +8.20%
2008: Obama +6.30%
2012: Obama +3.87%

There have now, over 25 months, been 16 polls of Virginia, with 51 matchups, of which Clinton has clearly won 49, Christie won one poll (November 2013) and tied with Clinton in one poll (September 2013) - but he is now down 10 points to her in the old Dominion.

And just for reference (since the links have now changed), so that you can see all polls for the entire Union up to January 19th or so:

Virginia is without a doubt one of the key former GOP states that the Republicans MUST win back in order to get to 270. It is starting to look very much that Obama may have cemented this state into the "Blue Wall". Only time will tell.

Update in 6 months.
