I don't trust polls, the only one that matters is in November and after debates.

What I do believe has hurt Trump time and again, is some of Trumps tweets and comments are used by the left to hurt his standing with Independents and Libertarians in particular. It's as if they say "take every video of police brutality, put it on air, make it news, and wait for Trump to make excuses for it". It seems of late, he has fallen for it. They KNOW he is going to respond to the activities, be it an old man being pushed to the ground or whatever, and then all they have to do is present his tweet with their own commentary.

It hasn't worked for MSM and the Dems on the issues of China, tariffs, illegal immigration, the Wuhan Virus etc, so notice, the media don't talk about those issues anymore. They don't talk about it because these issues, along with the economy, HELP Trump vs Biden, because citizens inherently agree or at least understand his position. If he over reaches and people decide they disagree with him on other key issues (such as civil liberties or accountable power), it could be very tough to recover from.
