Daniel Kovalik: Why Russia's intervention in Ukraine is legal under international law

What was founded in 2014?
The government in Kiev, moron.

They overthrew their elected President.

But I see you like to play dumb. You can be as dumb and uninformed as you like. The rest of us choose not to ignore history or pretend it hasn’t affected current events.

He was an elected President. They didn’t have the votes to impeach and remove him. So it was still a violent insurrection and coup.

Yea, the guy had the audacity to flee to Russia to be protected. What was he supposed to do? Let himself be murdered by a mob? Flee to the West that was backing the coup? The Russians prevented him from being murdered, how outrageous right?

On 22 February 2014, the Ukrainian parliament voted to remove him from his post and schedule new elections on the grounds that he "has restrained himself from performing his constitutional duties" and effectively resigned,[17] rather than by following the impeachment process for criminal acts under Article 108 of the Ukrainian constitution.[18] Parliament set 25 May as the date for the special election to select his replacement,[18][19][20][21] and, two days later, issued a warrant for his arrest, accusing him of "mass killing of civilians."[22] After his departure, Yanukovych conducted several press conferences. In one of these, he declared himself to remain "the legitimate head of the Ukrainian state elected in a free vote by Ukrainian citizens".[23] On 18 June 2015, Yanukovych was officially deprived of the title of president by the parliament.[24] On 24 January 2019, he was sentenced in absentia to thirteen years' imprisonment for high treason by a Ukrainian court.[25]

Hahaha, yea he “restrained himself” from his duties because he was chased out by a violent mob.

Only lefty idiots could come up with that.

I think that's because millions of Americans actually believe they are the "good guys' in spite of the historical record that's seen millions of innocent civilians on the opposite side of the planet die from US weapons.

This latest blood-bath in Ukraine differs only in the sense that, unlike previous victims like Serbia, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya, Russia is not a developing country without nuclear weapons:

What is propelling the U.S. into increasing international military aggression? | MR Online

"However, the U.S. threat to extend NATO into Ukraine, which is the fundamental cause of the present war in that country, is a qualitative U.S. escalation from simply attacks on far weaker developing countries than itself.

"The U.S. was aware in advance that the threat to extend NATO into Ukraine affected the most fundamental national interests of Russia—a country with very strong military forces, including a nuclear weapons arsenal which is equal to the U.S..

"U.S. policy towards Ukraine, therefore, explicitly crossed Russia’s 'red lines'—something the U.S. entirely understood and which it was prepared to take the risk of undertaking."
Thanks, and keep getting the message out! The propaganda blitz needs to be powerful enough to withstand months and months of the slow exposure of the truth.
We're getting down to only the insignificant fools are the only ones on this forum who are still lapping up the propaganda.

As a matter of interest, the situation could use a rational analysis of Nato's article 5 on whether any country would dare to enact it. This goes for Russia as well, having the confidence to purposely activate it?

I think that even an accidental attack by a Nato country or Russia would be ignored. Or at least handled the way the US missile attack on China's embassy in Kosovo was handled.

Why not at least try to ferret out some intelligence from the war cheerleaders?

Look, I've said as much from day one, they have every right to act in their self-interests, just as much as we do, and I would caution folks to consider that the fascist democrats, first under Obama/Biden, and now Biden, provoked a coup in Ukraine, resulting in war in the Donbas, and an unfettered superhighway of corruption between the US senate and Ukraine, all at Russia's expense!

There are reasons why low life scum such as the draft dodging Mitt Romney went ballistic over just the mention of biolabs in Ukraine, resulting in Romney accusing an actual war hero former member of congress who had run for president, of being a traitor, he's just as corrupt and invested in Ukraine as was/is the Biden, & Kerry family's! Putin has for two decades, told them, and you can even google up the psychopathic Biden from 1998 affirming this, that Ukraine and Nato was his and Russia's red line!

In the matter of Russia going into Ukraine, its Russia who wears the white hat, not the United States under the control of democratic party fascism!
You should brush up on your facts; If you want a good, accurate definition of fascism, look no further than the Trump Cult.

Bigly!!!

Quite the contrary impossibly stupid one, it is you who requires educating, brushing up is far short of the effort necessary to correct your idiocy! Fascism is NOT defined by a left or a right political spectrum, it occurs in either or, and it never occurs in a man, or movement totally dedicated to the constitution of the United States which is the exact counterweight to fascism!

Fascism is precisely what the democrats are selling, and fascist is exactly what the fuck you and all democrats are! Fascism is NOT supportive of the 1st amendment, fascism is NOT supportive of the 2nd Amendment, or any amendment to the Constitution of the United States, because that constitution empowers the people, not a central governing elite! Its not rocket science douche bag, find the political party who opposes free speech, and the right of the people to possess arms and you just found yourself the fascists! :laughing0301:

hat fact is irrelevant. Furthermore, the war was instigated by Russia.
It's only irrelevant if you believe Russia had no legal grounds for its military action in Ukraine; that issue is far from settled despite what you MSM heroes tell you:

Daniel Kovalik: Why Russia's intervention in Ukraine is legal under international law

"While the UN Charter prohibits unilateral acts of war, it also provides, in Article 51, that '[n]othing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defense... ' And this right of self-defense has been interpreted to permit countries to respond, not only to actual armed attacks, but also to the threat of imminent attack."

You're spout Russian propaganda. The Russian ambassador to the U.N, used exactly that figure for the number of deaths. Furthermore, Russia is responsible for any deaths since Russia instigated the war.
You haven't been paying attention to what your Nazi brethren have been inflicting on Donbass for the last eight years, have you?

Daniel Kovalik: Why Russia's intervention in Ukraine is legal under international law

"One must begin this discussion by accepting the fact that there was already a war happening in Ukraine for the eight years preceding the Russian military incursion in February 2022.

"And, this war by the government in Kiev against the Russian-speaking peoples of the Donbass – a war which claimed the lives of around 14,000 people, many of them children, and displaced around 1.5 million more even before Russia’s military operation – has been arguably genocidal.

"That is, the government in Kiev, and especially its neo-Nazi battalions, carried out attacks against these peoples with the intention of destroying, at least in part, the ethnic Russians precisely because of their ethnicity.

Which sounds suspiciously like genocide to many people not inclined to support white nationalism.

They are attacked because they were staging a revolt against the government. You know, an INSURRECTION." I thought you prog assholes didn't approve of those.
They are revolting against a government created by a violent US-supported coup in 2014 and its Nazi hordes killing Russian citizens in Donbass:

Daniel Kovalik: Why Russia's intervention in Ukraine is legal under international law

"Still, there is more to consider regarding Russia’s claimed justifications for intervention.

"Thus, not only are there radical groups on its border attacking ethnic Russians, including Russian citizens, but also, these groups have reportedly been funded and trained by the United States with the very intention of destabilizing and undermining the territorial integrity of Russia itself.

"As Yahoo News! explained in a January 2022 article:

“The CIA is overseeing a secret intensive training program in the U.S. for elite Ukrainian special operations forces and other intelligence personnel, according to five former intelligence and national security officials familiar with the initiative.

"The program, which started in 2015, is based at an undisclosed facility in the Southern U.S., according to some of those officials.

"The program has involved ‘very specific training on skills that would enhance’ the Ukrainians’ ‘ability to push back against the Russians,’ said the former senior intelligence official.

"The training, which has included ‘tactical stuff,’ is ‘going to start looking pretty offensive if Russians invade Ukraine,’ said the former official.

"One person familiar with the program put it more bluntly. ‘The United States is training an insurgency,’ said a former CIA official, adding that the program has taught the Ukrainians how ‘to kill Russians.’”

(emphasis added).

"To remove any doubt that the destabilization of Russia itself has been the goal of the US in these efforts, one should examine the very telling 2019 report of the Rand Corporation..."

That is the excuse Russia used, yes.

Of course, it is a lie. Interesting that you ignore that part....

How is Putin's Article 51 argument a "lie" and MATO's attack on Yugoslavia in 1999 was not ?

Russia, Ukraine & the Law of War: Crime of Aggression

"While one may be able to mount a legal challenge to Russia’s contention that its joint operation with Russia’s newly recognized independent nations of Lugansk and Donetsk constitutes a 'regional security or self-defense organization' as regards 'anticipatory collective self-defense actions' under Article 51, there can be no doubt as to the legitimacy of Russia’s contention that the Russian-speaking population of the Donbass had been subjected to a brutal eight-year-long bombardment that had killed thousands of people.

"Moreover, Russia claims to have documentary proof that the Ukrainian Army was preparing for a massive military incursion into the Donbass which was pre-empted by the Russian-led 'special military operation.' [OSCE figures show an increase of government shelling of the area in the days before Russia moved in.]"

I suspect once the truth begins to emerge, the US media will move on to the next Big Crisis, possibly a global economic depression brought on by de-dollarization?

Accelerated de-dollarization - Khmer Times

The major Western powers are employing financial sanctions as economic weapons.

"As the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalates, the United States and its Western allies have imposed what they hope will be crippling financial sanctions on Russia.

"These are promoting changes in the international financial order and driving profound changes in the international monetary system and the global financial landscape.."
