The ticketed area of the National Mall alone has a capacity of 240,000 and the crowd clearly filled that area and beyond. The public access area of the Mall holds nearly 950,000 and some photographs of that area show it to be near capacity, although it has been reported that other groups were holding events in that area.

Well, I'd say that's a much more reasonable claim.
Considering the 60-70 thousand figure was the crowd size at 11:30, I guess that the total crowd going in and out of the protest could, theoretically, have reached around that number, though in my opinion that would still be a generous estimate.
But I wouldn't immediately dismiss an estimate of around that number.

I'm not unhinged just annoyed at all the lies, much like I was annoyed at all the anti-bush/anti-iraq protesters being called unamerican a few years ago. Its the media's complicity in these types of lies about average americans that piss me off.
