Demagogue: Senator Rafael Edward "Ted" Cruz (R) Texas

I have to agree totally with the talking heads on Inside Washington, excepting the libertarian twit in the wheelchair, and the host, that Sen. "Ted" Cruz is potentially dangerous demagogue.

Saw a video clip of "Ted" speaking about the attention focused on him in the battle over the Hagel nomination. Anyone who knows who "Ted" is knows "Ted" sought out and manipulated the attention. This man is creepy in a way we haven't seen in a long time, because he is smart as a whip as well as morally bankrupt. Witness his absolute carelessness with facts concerning a genuine American hero, Chuck Hagel.

This man has the crazies who demand sequestration come to fruition, as his base.

why should that bother you people, you elected one as president

You people just love to dish it but hate it when it is thrown back in your face...He was duly elected by the people, remember the democracy thing...well he won and you all just need to suck it up..
tsk tsk

Stephanie, why must you consistently miss the point? Is it a congenital defect? The American people have the right to elect demagogues. Electing a demagogue does not make a demagogue not a demagogue.

President Obama has been criticized by rational people as a pragmatist. "Ted" has been criticized by rational people as being a demagogue. Then there are the crazies like you.

You always know who scare the liberals-left

they have to follow their masters in the media and the DNC and call him crazy, morally bankrupt, blaaa blaaa blaaa

Hey, you hear jessy jackson jr is going to jail and another Democrat is being investigated for sleeping with children?, now there is crazy and morally bankrupt

Cruz said the Hagel nomination "has been publicly celebrated by the Iranian government."

An Iranian foreign ministry spokesman expressed hope that with Hagel as secretary, Washington would become "respectful of the rights of nations" and if so, he said, Iran’s hatred of U.S. policies will decrease.

Experts differ on the significance of those comments. But they concur that the response fell short of a governmental celebration, with most saying it was far from it. Our sense is there has been no Hagel party in Iran, leaving this claim worse than incorrect. It’s ridiculous. Pants on Fire!

McCarthy was right all along, so comparing Cruz to McCarthy is actually a compliment.

This from people who dredge up Obama's birth certificate? :laugh2:

Ted Cruz Responds to ‘New McCarthy’ New Yorker Article: ‘Curious’ They Would ‘Dredge Up a 3-Year-Old Speech & Call it News’

Sen. Ted Cruz’s office told TheBlaze it was “curious” that the New Yorker would dig up a years-old speech for the purpose of dubbing him “our new McCarthy.”

Nevertheless, Cruz spokeswoman Catherine Frazier said the Texas Republican’s “substantive point” about Harvard Law School being home to Communists “was absolutely correct.”

Cruz, the New Yorker reported, said in a 2010 speech that President Barack Obama “would have made a perfect president of Harvard Law School” because “there were fewer declared Republicans in the faculty when we were there than Communists! There was one Republican. But there were 12 who would say they were Marxists who believed in the Communists overthrowing the United States government.” Cruz attended Harvard Law after Obama.

The Fluffiest Praise of Ted Cruz You're Likely to Encounter - Conor Friedersdorf - The Atlantic
So to review, Cruz asked pointed questions of a nominee during a confirmation hearing; expressed a standard conservative position on immigration; and echoed the GOP position on three other issues.

What honor! What courage! What an "effective advocate" of our founding principles! What a "true leader"!

Is he kidding us?

What a load of premature hype. The leaders of movement conservatism are constantly doing this: They decide on a champion, be it George W. Bush or Rick Perry or Marco Rubio or Ted Cruz, and extol their manifold virtues in the most absurdly exaggerated ways imaginable. Perhaps Cruz will successfully block a bad nominee, or sponsor a piece of landmark legislation, or maneuver his party to a key negotiating victory that makes a bill more conservative.

So far, he has accomplished nothing, save eliciting from DeMint the sort of fluff piece that suggests that his public output as president of the Heritage Foundation will lack intellectual heft.

Jim DeMint defends Sen. Ted Cruz, rejects ?upstart? and ?bully? labels | Trail Blazers Blog
“If Cruz has ruffled feathers in Congress, that means he’s doing his job. Voters want Washington to be shaken out of its complacency,” he wrote.
