After watching the FBI director's inconsistent explanation as to why he announced an investigation of Hillary Clinton shortly before the election of 2016, while saying nothing about the investigation of Trump and Co. it seems the Democrats don't fully appreciate their situation. With this ignorant, and ineffective President at the helm, the Democrats can watch with glee as the GOP wanders from one failure to another while controlling both the White House and both houses of Congress. It won't take long for the mood of the country to sour on the GOP (It's not exactly sweet now!) and the voters will change things from red to blue in the next 1-2 elections. Relax Democrats, not even Russia's dirty little tricks will be able to save the GOP next time. :bye1:

I think both parties would prefer to be the outraged minority than the party in power.

If the inner circles of both parties are confident that they'll always be reelected, they'd just as soon remain the minority.

That could explain an awful lot about American politics.

The Democrats are dropping faster than the Republicans are....

Just because the Republicans are incompetent at restoring order, that doesn't mean that people all of the sudden want to destroy order.

Republicans are wrong most of the time, but Democrats are wrong 100% of the time.

I believe you are right. The once conservative GOP party has been under constant attack from progressivism. The Dems are committed to the progressive movement and the expansion of the Federal Government. Thus, when they are in control they move the country significantly left. The GOP is torn between the desire to control and their former principles. This division is manifested thru inner party squabbles, and as we see now, the inability to govern at all.

The GOP is a hodgepodge of former leftists and libertarians who are absolutely useless for an effective opposition to absolute lunacy.

There is no Russian connection, because there's no proof. Jack weed

As we have seen, there is no room for conservatives in the GOP. There is a myriad of ways to sabotage them.

If conservatives want to get politically active, support the Article V movement. States need to rise up and take power back from the Feds.

For the Article V movement to succeed, we need to focus on what is popular.

About 80% of Americans favor a Congressional term limit and a Balanced Budget amendment of some kind.

As we have witnessed, the Federal government is a lost cause.

Changing the health care system wasn't popular before Obamacare happened.

The right just needs to start fighting for once and not playing defense.

Absolutely true!

85%-90% of those with healthcare insurance before ObamaCare were happy with it.

From what I hear, the GOP would raise premiums even more.

I for one would not want any of our current crop of politicians to get their excrement-encrusted fingers on the Constitution.

Re-assert the 10th Amendment, and enforce it to the letter.

Shrug. It's not like the pay attention to it anyway.

The only reason states would amend the Constitution would be to curb the power of the Federal government.

I see no down side to that, as impossible a task as that might be.

No amendment is currently necessary. The federal government is Constitutionally limited. Simply enforce the law.

Yes it is necessary.

The original Constitution, the Articles of Confederation, did not empower the Federal government enough. In the immortal words of George Washington, the problem was, "No money".

Then a few years later fixed it with the current Constitution.

Of course, this worked just fine until Progs wanted to empower the Federal government even more, so they amended the Constitution with the Federal Income tax and created the Fed. This tipped the balance in favor of too much power to the Federal government.

Now some $20 trillion in debt and conservative states and liberal states ready to secede from the union, depending on which party holds power, and a Congressional approval rating of under 20% for decades, one thing is clear. The current system is an abysmal failure.

We need to right things again the way it was altered, amend the Constitution. This means bringing back in the purse strings with a balanced budget amendment.

Of course, they will just ignore it, but at least it's a start.

We can dream, can't we.

The 32nd President drove a stake through the heart of the Constitution.

In 1935, the Supreme Court upheld the New Deal repudiation of gold payments in government contracts and private contracts .... Justice McReynolds declared in a dissenting opinion that "the Constitution as we have known it is gone." The Brookshire Times from Brookshire, Texas on March 1, 1935 · Page 2

The only way to stop the runaway train is for debt to rise to such a point that everything goes belly up, or a civil war starts between liberal and conservative states who should be allowed to run their own affairs with the respect that is due them, regarding such things as health care. Or we can try to save the Republic with the Article V amendments.

I don't really have a very optimistic view of the future for America. The collectivists have patiently used a full century to get to their power position.....and I don't think we have 100 years to defeat them.

We don't need 100 years. We simply need to act with what we currently have.
