Conversely, only about 40,000 were killed by guns every year

But that is not all.

We all know that the DNC believes cars are destroying the climate like they tell us every day

And lastly, you need an ID to drive, making it a white privilege and therefore racist

So there you go. Cars kill way more people than guns, they are destroying the planet, and they are racist.

All of which can be done by pretty much everyone, afforded by pretty much everyone, and whole government agencies are designed to make the process streamlined. Also the tests are so easy any moron can pass one.

Insurance is only required to limit the strain on the courts, which isn't an issue with civil suits over gun use.

How about voting laws? Maybe people should get a gun permit every time they re-up their license like progs want to do with voter registration.

How much worse could cars be?

The left refuses to admit that the figure of deaths includes suicides, which shouldn't be counted among the gun deaths as those same individuals would have deliberately killed themselves even if they didn't have a gun. They would have just taken a bunch of pills, hung themselves, sliced their wrists, jumped off a building, deliberately crashed their cars or, electrocuted themselves anyway.
The left has two main reasons for wanting to get rid of guns (keep in mind that they are aware that far more mass murders have been committed with simpler items):
1. They "don't" use them. The other methods they do use (knives, motor vehicles, gasoline, improvised explosives by simply combining the right mixture of charcoal, sulfur, and potassium nitrate, blunt instruments). If the left considered guns an everyday item that "they" used, they wouldn't want them banned.
2. The left wants to deliberately disarm the public to minimize the likelihood of an armed rebellion against those that would seek to end the Constitution and its Bill of Rights and implement a Marxist government. Once that could be accomplished, they will simply apply the techniques that China, USSR, North Korea, Cambodia, Turkey, et cetera used to rid themselves of political opponents, the large scale roundup and murder of millions, including members of their own who initiated the change to ensure they don't foment dissent either.
