Demographic Shifts That Are Sinking The Republican Party

The best part of all this is that, like a broken transmission, the GOP is stuck in Denial gear, and so the wheels just keep spinning deeper and deeper into the sand.

Yeah, and hillary is the best you can come up with? seems like the denial is on your side. enjoy your female version of Dole and McCain. too bad you can't learn from our mistakes.

but go ahead------after all its her turn, the kenyan stepped in front of her so you owe it to her. "what difference, at this point, does it make"

I can't wait for a hillary campaign.:D

I confess that us democrats are not reaching very far for a perfect candidate, but why should we, when the Right puts forth spokespersons and candidates who are guaranteed losers? In fact, we would prefer to cut our spending on the next presidential election, so please nominate Sarah again....

You are a simplistic person.

All polls are pointing to GOP victories in the Senate, the ACA is polling at all time lows, Democrat candidates are running away from the ACA--and you believe the death of the GOP and the birth of a single party system is imminent.

You are really delusional. America will never have a single party and the GOP is not going anywhere.

You just keep telling yourself that, as Pelosi keeps spinning that the unaffordable Health Care Act is affordable.

Don't much care what Nancy says about it. The only thing that matters to me is that is is the law of the land.

So now you are pro bestiality?

Are you in favor of denying people their rights, and imposing your own morality on others? How Democrat of you!

Thats exactly what the libtards don't get. If gay marriage is made legal in order to allow everyone to live as they choose and to marry whoever they choose based on equal rights. Then there is no legal defense that can be brought to deny bigamy, polygamy, etc because to do so would be depriving these people of their equal rights. the slimy lawyers are lining up to be the first to take such a case to SCOTUS.

The Big Government conservative progressives and their agenda would be kicked in the ass by James Madison.

I love this quote from James Madison that I found:

"During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." James Madison - "Memorial and Remonstrance Against Religious Assessments" (1785)

With all the recent jurisprudence over same-sex marriage vs. "religious freedom" I am frightened by anti-Gay bigotry and ignorance being enshrined in state law (as in many jurisdictions) to protect SOME forms of Christian dogma.

The GOP has a track record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when it comes to the Senate!

Those are all short term trends. Even if the GOP does win the Senate in 2014 (I won't be surprised if it does) it still doesn't change the longterm outlook for the GOP. They won't be a competitive party nationally anymore. They can win off year elections due to low turnout but in the bigger picture they won't be competitive nationally.

I fully expect that 2016 will be the last presidential election where the GOP can maintain it's current platform and remain even remotely competitive.

If the GOP does not become sensitive the demographic changes, then it will go the way of the Federalists and the Whigs.

What they need is a token famous likeable Hispanic to balance out Bill Cosby for the African-American GOP caucus. Where is Desi Arness when you really need him?

The GOP has a track record of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory when it comes to the Senate!

All they have to do in the various districts the Senate seats are up for grabs is to play the Harvey Milk card. The digust will be palpable to anyone associated with that agenda. And that disgust will be directed directly at the democrats. They have their butts hanging out on this one, hoping it won't come up in the conversation late in the game. I can't imagine with such a sure harvest from the middle that card would get the GOP at the 11th hour how they would hesitate to play it.

Slavery was law as well at one point in our history, as was Jim Crow, that does not make that piece of crap 'health care law' any good.

So you are advocating that the GOP stick with an anti-gay agenda for an 11th hour Hail Mary?

the GOP cant sink; Progressives will have nothing to blame left-wing failure on

idiots and hypocrites

Even if the GOP wins the Senate they still won't be able to override a veto of any further attempt at a repeal.

lmao; repeal is the ONLY option for a fatally flawed law. obamacare is failing on its own; no need to repeal it; it wont stop Dems from losing seats if it isnt repealed; and it still wont work if it isnt repealed

According to the latest polling only 19% of the population actually want it repealed. The majority of those who are less than thrilled with it want it amended instead of repealed.

Thus, over time, high-turnout seniors, currently the most conservative part of the electorate by age, will be liberalized as Baby Boomers age. Moreover, the most liberal part of the generation — those born up through 1955 and termed “early Boomers” — is frontloaded, so the political impact on the senior population could be fairly rapid.
So, the changing location, education levels, and age of the electorate suggest why the Republicans’ long-term disadvantages aren’t so bad as most people think. They’re worse.

The Hidden Demographic Shifts That Are Sinking The Republican Party | ThinkProgress

we changed the world.

they have been trying to catch up to us for years.

they used to own the world now that is over.

as you can see they will do anything to win anyway

Yes just what we need--another ill informed liberal telling us how to win elections.
Here's an idea: stick it up your ass.

Con credibility and integrity.....
Raygun tripled the national debt after promising to balance the budget.
Shrub daddy doubled in again in only four years.
Shrub Jr. doubled it again, adding more than all presidents put together in American history. And destroyed the U.S. economy and the global economy.
For five years they've been crying for fiscal responsibility. So all they've got is playground banter for their argument.

Obama's deficits are bigger than Reagan's entire budgets.
Obama has spent more than Reagan and Bush combined.
Is the economy better today than it was in 2007? No, of course not.

Shrub left Obama with a $1.2 TRILLLION annual deficit for fiscal year 2009. Obama has cut that deficit in half. And yes the economy IS better today than in 2007, and you know it. Trying to bullshit people when they know it's bullshit is moronic. Raygun added $2 trillion, Shrub added $7 trillion, Obama has added $5 trillion cleaning up Shrubs destruction of the economy. Your math is as bad as your lies.

the debt when obama took over was just under 10T, today it is 17T, so far he has added 7T. when he leaves it will be over 20T. Obama will have added more to the debt than all previous presidents COMBINED. That is the math of it. The annual deficit has decreased, that is true, mostly because the obama economy sucks.

Another fact you fail to comprehend, Bush's last two budgets were passed by democrat controlled congresses. The dems authorized the deficit spending in 08 and 09. Bush should have vetoed them, I agree.

Now, how many budgets has obama passed in the last 5 years? answer: zero.

Hypothetically say you are right. Demographic shifts to the third world doom the United States to replicating the various home nations of third world new citizens. Much like cheapening Roman citizenship led to Rome's collapse. The Republicans aren't dead. They might have to identify a rising power whose values more closely reflect their own and form an alliance to rescue what remains of the nation's decency, but that's not dead.
