The reasons NYC, Miami, and nearly all of Cali have higher real estate is more people think it's a desirable place. Many move away for what they consider a normal cost of living.
Supply and demand, we shouldn't have to subsidize your living in a high demand area beyond what you already get in higher mortgage and property tax credit. Most would agree with that even though you don't. Best wishes with your college athletes, mine are done and I miss driving 2,000 miles round trip to see about 20 minutes of wrestling.
You know, I come on here to debate to either prove I am right or be proven I am wrong.
I was proven to be wrong.
I did not take into consideration the tax brweak I get with higher amounts of interest and taxes, nor did I really consider the idea of my real estate is more expensive as it is deemed more valuable property (land wise).
I accept defeat on this one. I do see your point and I would defend it if approached with my original sentiments.
As I said, my boy gave it up. Heck, even with fall ball, 600-800 miles a weekend.
I always wished he chose football over lacrosse. Free ride to many insitiuitions....but as he put it...When I am 40 I will regret football.....when I am 40, I will not feel the pain from lacrosse.
He is happy with netiher as he enters his Junior year.
