The major difference is that Germany and America are both capitalist, liberty supporting nations, while Russia is not. Furthermore, Russia has in the past and might in the future represent a threat to America's National security, via a war or even nuclear missle. America and Germany are not these type of adversaries.

Admittingly, I have always found it odd how America allows Canada to interfere in their corporations on Canadian soil, but I suppose with the decreased investment in Canada, this reality and lack of trust has trickled down to various U.S business sectors and they have replied in kind.

Of course, ongoing abuses by "allied" nations come at great costs. I am guessing with Trump at the helm this is particularly true.

Access to the world's three largest markets is Canada's biggest blessing and curse. Brexit and the pending US trade war with China is going to be interesting to watch. At least from here in FL. Germany's current 5th or 6th drive east is likely to be as a big a bust as the previous attempts. Germany and France are trying to take on someone bigger than the two of them combined and it only makes sense for both sides to know when to pull the plug on this idiocy and point fingers at each other to defuse this mess.
