Good article. The Price of Oil drives the drilling and shale oil refinement. In fact, if the price of oil goes up to a certain amount, even coal gets into the picture for oil production. Rump wants to double the production but exactly where are the oil companies going to get the funds to do that? And who is going to buy their products? Obama did remove the restraints on exporting oil products and that made a huge difference. And the restriction to the Gulf until the valves were registered as safe and that lasted about 180 days until they Oil Companies complied with the registrations of the valves. Of course, it took them 85 days to stop the oil pouring out of the damaged well heads. 210 Million gallons of crude pouring into the Gulf will cause problems for many decades to come. So that 180 day time spent making sure every well head met or exceeded the limits was a good thing. The real cause was the Deep Horizon well head did NOT meet the minimum requirements and the worst happened. The Gulf is not only up to par but it's expanded under Obama and Rump.

The US is thousands of years away from running out of Oil because we have so many ways to produce it. But it all depends on the price. Let's face it, sweet crude is the cheapest to make gasoline from. Next comes Heavy Crude. Then comes Shale. Then comes coal. Using Sweet Crude to make Motor Oil and Lubricants is a huge waste of money and Heavy Crude and Shale work just fine. But in order to make Gasoline out of the others other than Sweet Crude, the cost of oil must go up. Right now, it's just not worth it. And the biggest producers of cheap light sweet crude are in the Middle East. This is why we import oil while exporting oil.
