I could be wrong but I think they were beating him more out of anger than to protect the cop. I think maybe he did them wrong some kind of way and that they were the ones who called the cops. Whatever the truth is, it seemed to me that they were beating him with rather more gusto than merely protecting the cop could account for.

We do. Maybe the cops start abiding by the law and whites start controlling their criminal element instead of electing them, we can see a light at the end of the tunnel.
