Presumably the Thorazine you are familiar with is dispensed in 20mg capsule doses as daily med on psycho wards or is prescribed (as Chlorpromazine) to psychiatric outpatients. The Thorazine I'm talking about is 2 grams injected directly into the neck which will reach the brain almost immediately and will cause total immobilization and unconsciousness.

As for Tasering someone, it doesn't work like it does on TV.

When I worked in Juvy we had a zealous doc on call; he once offered to shoot up a freaked out kid w/thorazine. I was new, and I remember my lead worker saying, "No, I don't want to have to hose shit out of his room."

Thorazine definitely has an immediate and profound effect. I'm sure that effect lessens if the dosage does, but it's not an antidepressant that takes 3 weeks to kick in at all...

Reach the brain almost immediately only works if it actually gets into the bloodstream, even if it does it is not immediately cause anything but a sore neck from the injection. The only thing that is instantaneous is severing the spinal cord. Anything less than that gives people time to react. You really need to stop getting your facts from bad novels.

Tasers are wonderful little weapons, but they are not 100% effective. Not only do they sometimes kill people, some people are more resistant to electrical shocks than others, and recover faster.

Regardless, you are ignoring that the problem with capturing anyone is that, if you meet resistance from other people and have to drop him, you are left with the choice of killing a prisoner or letting him escape, which is why you take in a larger force if the intent is to capture.
