disturbing graves in tulsa. they need to leave this history were it lays

Except, thats completely NOT what happened.
A white mob attacked innocent blacks, out of the blue. No reason. Dull day. Spice it up a little.
Of course not. There was context. Rightly or wrongly there was context.

It started out as a black riot, much like we have today. Only in those days the people were having none of it.

In the early morning hours of June 1, 1921, Greenwood was looted and burned by white rioters. Governor Robertson declared martial law, and National Guard troops arrived in Tulsa. Guardsmen assisted firemen in putting out fires, took African Americans out of the hands of vigilantes and imprisoned all black Tulsans not already interned. Over 6,000 people were held at the Convention Hall and the Fairgrounds, some for as long as eight days.

Why? No reason? What happened to cause whites to attack blacks? Nothing? Anything? A sudden onset of white psychosis perhaps?

Could it be the attack followed a massive black protest over the arrest of a man named Rowland? Nah. Couldn't be.

the blacks came to the defense of a young man about to be lynched by a white mob. The whites drove them back then destroyed their whole town.

I know. It is part of massaging historical facts. But basically it started out as a black riot.

The Watts riot started off with the police shooting one black. The King riot started with a not guilty verdict over a police beating. There's history here. In both Watts and King whites went home and left the streets to black carnage. If whites had fought back, it would have been Tulsa.

Again, you might wanna read your link. The thing that sparked the whole deal was that a black man rode in an elevator with a white woman. The black man was arrested and an investigation was started. An article was written in the Tulsa newspaper about the event, sparking racial tension. Black people showed up to protest the arrest of the black man, and then white people showed up to protest the black people gathering. THAT is what started the whole thing.

Protest is every Americans first amendment right. Are you arguing that a reasonable response to black people exercising their rights is violence and genocide? 😄

He was riding in an elevator with a white woman. She apparently didn't like it and made an accusation, which resulted in his arrest. The Tulsa paper wrote an inflammatory article about the whole situation. Blacks assembled outside of the jail, as they were fearful that he was going to be lynched or killed. White people showed up to protest the blacks assembling, and that is what started the whole event.

Ever heard of Emmet Till? He was a black man who was killed simply for whistling at a white woman.

Hmmmm. Now that you stir the memory bank... I. remember the Watts protests, the Rodney King protests, even the Lakers victory celebration. So, yes.

were you there??

I remember old elevators. They were in use up until the 50s. Certainly in 1921. There was no such thing as getting in an elevator and pushing a button. All elevators had elevator operators. It wasn't just a black guy and a white woman in the elevator. There was an elevator operator who would have been a witness. We don't know what happened and may never know. History is being changed just as George Orwell saw in 1984.

she was the elevator operator. And the police investigation revealed the black kid grabbed her arm and she didn't want to press charges.
