Do liberals ever wonder why our Founders were 100% opposed to big government even....

It's amazing how knowledgeable the ignorant get just listening to RW propaganda...NOT.

Oppression. Religion. Lack of freedom.

Our founding fathers were for a small, progressive government that would be extremely liberal in the terms of self liberties and rights.

I'd put money that they would support gay marriage, abortion, etc in a heartbeat.
the 2nd amendment was so everyone could protect themselves against corruption and other nations.

You know that the US was a very weak nation when it was founded. It was imparitive to keep everyone armed so we could win.

Kinda like today. If another nation's military were to invade, they would face bullets raining like a typhoon. And with how people can make homemade bombs, etc. They would get their asses raped by 8" without lube or any foreplay.

That 100% of the founders opposed big government.

Too stupid then why be so afraid to say who the founders were who were for big government!! What does your obvious fear tell us.

btw. without a powerful central government, a Constitution, especially one with guaranteed civil rights, is meaningless,

because it takes the power of a big central government to enforce it.

too stupid of course!! Founders only goal was to avoid powerful big central governemnt because it had always been misused throughout human history.

You're literally too stupid to know what the idea of American is!

"Experience hath shewn, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny."- Thomas Jefferson

What's the point of having a federal Bill of Rights for example, if a state can go ahead and pass laws in violation of those rights?

No. That would require honest questioning and *gasp* thinking!

who said they can???????????????????????????????????/

According to you you don't want a central government with any power to speak of, which would include the power to tell states which laws it can or cannot pass.

They were already listed for you.

Without power, the federal government cannot enforce the Constitution. Without a means to enforce the Constitution, the states are left to legislate and govern as they please...

...doing things such as segregating schools, banning guns, etc.

.

Without power, the federal government cannot enforce the Constitution.

too stupid!! who said they were to have no power????????????????

The idea of America is to have very limited central power!! That is why we have a federal government but not a national government!!

Notice a liberal will not know the most basic things???

See why we say slow, so very very slow???

We have a national government. We also have a supremacy clause in the Constitution.

You're right, for much of history governments were misused. They were established to help the powerful always at the expense of its subjects, But America started on a different path, government, for the most part, that did not misuse its power or its citizens. Gradually the American people, over time, began to realize that governments could actually help its elites but its regular citizens.
A new day dawned had dawned in America, the federal and state governments actually helping its citizens achieve, and today we have a government that is overwhelmingly trusted by most Americans and most approve of the concept that government helps its citizens.

Even Jefferson, as he aged, saw the change.
"The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government."
Thomas Jefferson 1809,

A Supremacy Clause doesn't mean that the Federal Government is an Omnipotent Unlimited Power.

Just sayin'.

yes with depressions and wars???? and by stealing 15% of everyone's lifetime income for SS and giving them back dog food money and by driving up the cost of medical care 9 times, and by the near genocidal Great Society war against American blacks and with government schools turnng out about the dumbest kids in the world!!!

And this is with saintly Jeffersonian Republicans holding them back at every turn!!
