Pope John Paul II:
'Animals Possess A Soul'

Pope John Paul II declared in a public audience in 1990 that "also the animals possess a soul and men must love and feel solidarity with our smaller brethren". He said, too, that they are the "fruit of the creative action of the Holy Spirit and merit respect," and are as near to God as men are." The Pope went on to say that, "animals have the breath of life and were given it by God. In this respect, man created by the hand of God is identical with all living creatures. ... The existence therefore of all living creatures depends on the living spirit/breath of God that not only creates but also sustains and renews the face of the earth."

An old man and his dog were walking down this dirt
road with fences on both sides, they came to a gate
in the fence and looked in, it was nice - grassy,
woody areas, just what a 'huntin' dog and man would like, but, it had a sign saying 'no trespassing' so they walked on.

They came to a beautiful gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to Heaven"
he said. The old man was happy and started in with his dog following him.

The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't allowed,
I'm sorry but he can't come with you." "What
kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If He can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful
companion all his life, I can't desert him now.
" "Suit yourself, but I have to warn you,
the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but, the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road " So the old man and dog went on.

They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. Another old man was inside. "Scuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?" "Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable " "You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere." "Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?" " No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog couldn't come in. We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold water and some
shade would be mighty fine right about now. But, I won't come in if my buddy here can't come too, and that's final. "

The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven." "You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?" "That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but, then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"

Yes. I believe all living things have souls. Even trees. If there is life..then there is a soul.

And you?

Spiders eat critters that eat food WE eat. Skeeters? Hmm....I don't know what their purpose is.

Yes. I believe animals have a soul. King David said in Psalm 103 Bless the Lord O My Soul and all that is within in me....... the soul is the seat of the intellect, will and emotions. Do animals have a will? Yes, anyone with a pet knows they do.. intellect? Definitely! Emotions? Yes again! So they do have a soul. Still the pope is wrong and is endorsing a form of darwinism that challenges Gods greatest creation - mankind. Animals and humans were not created equally in Gods sight.

Man was created in Gods image. Genesis 1:26

God gave man dominion over all the animal kingdom. Psalm 8

So if God gave man dominion over the birds of the air, the fish of the sea, the beasts of the field? Man is created higher than animal life. Man is a trichotomy - made in the image of God - whereas animals are a dichotomy. Body & soul. There is a difference.

If any living thing has a soul, every living thing likely does.

It is ALL connected, folks.

In ancient times people thought the seat of consciousness was in the organ of the heart. Now we know consciousness is seated in the brain. When scripture speaks about what goes on in the heart, they are referring to what goes on in the mind. In the same way soul was their word for consciousness, spirit referring to the souls inclination toward good or evil. An unclean spirit was just their way of saying filthy mind. A person possessed by a demon was simply a victim of mind control.

People are not made up of, mind, spirit and soul. Everything is perceived in the brain.

According to scripture death, confusion, and hell have souls in their keeping. That only makes sense if you understand soul to mean consciousness.

Any living thing that has a consciousness has a soul.

I believe that bullfrogs have soul. If they didn't how could they sing in such a deep voice???????

††† I've assembled many of the verses from the Old and New Testaments of the Bible which make clear from God's perspective as dispensed in Scripture, Animals are extremely important to him and have souls in the same way men do.

Here are a few good ones:

"If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body." 1Cor 15

1 Corinthians 15 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. if there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.

Ecclesiastes 3:21 Who knows if the soul of man rises upward and if the soul of the animal goes down into the earth?"

Genesis 9:5 I will demand an accounting from every animal.

Habakkuk 2:17 Your destruction of animals will terrify you.

Ecclesiastes 3:18-19 I also thought, "As for men, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Man's fate is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same spirit. Man has no advantage over the animal.

Isaiah 66:3 But whoever sacrifices a bull is like one who kills a man, and whoever offers a lamb, like one who breaks a dog's neck.

Proverbs 12:10 A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.

Psalm 78:18 And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.

To know how much God loves animals, one must read Job chapters 38 and 39. God uses his love for animals and with how much loving care he created them, to prove his greatness to Job. I would not obey or love a God who did not love animals. I would rather go to Hell than love a God who didn't care for the animals he made. That's how I feel about animals.

Job 39:1-8 "Do you know when the mountain goats give birth? Do you watch when the doe bears her fawn? 2 Do you count the months till they bear? Do you know the time they give birth? 3 They crouch down and bring forth their young; their labor pains are ended. 4 Their young thrive and grow strong in the wilds; they leave and do not return. 5 "Who let the wild donkey go free? Who untied his ropes? 6 I gave him the wasteland as his home, the salt flats as his habitat. 7 He laughs at the commotion in the town; he does not hear a driver's shout. 8 He ranges the hills for his pasture and searches for any green thing.

I also notice that Jesus, the reason for the earth, derives the core of his meaning - from the innocence of a lamb:

1 Corinthians 5:7 For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

Revelation 5:1-14 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, "Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?" 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals." 6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing in the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven spirits {6 Or the sevenfold Spirit} of God sent out into all the earth. 7 He came and took the scroll from the right hand of him who sat on the throne.

8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. 9 And they sang a new song: "You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and nation. 10 You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth." 11 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.

12 In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!" 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" 14 The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped.

Psalm 50
"Listen, my people, and I will speak;
I will testify against you, Israel:
I am God, your God.
9 I have no need of a bull from your stall
or of goats from your pens,
10 for every animal of the forest is mine,
and the cattle on a thousand hills.
11 I know every bird in the mountains,
and the insects in the fields are mine.
12 If I were hungry I would not tell you,
for the world is mine, and all that is in it.
13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
14 "Sacrifice thank offerings to God,
fulfill your vows to the Most High,
15 and call on me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you will honor me."

There was an old Twilight Zone where a man and his dog went to the big bright shiny gates of "heaven" but the "angels" wouldn't let the dog in so the man refused to go in either.

On down the road, they came to a old crummy looking gate and when the man inquired, the person at the gate said that the devil tried to lure people in to the bright shiny gate but the old gate where the dog was welcome was the real heaven.

I think the myths of heaven and hell are among the most harmful of the lies told my religion because they keep some from living their lives fully right here on earth. People believe they'll be rewarded "on the other side" and so, pass up much of this life.

Almost all cultures need to believe in gods and an afterlife. An interesting weakness of the human condition.

"The gospel of Satan is not a system of revolutionary principles, nor yet a program of anarchy. It does not promote strife and war, but aims at peace and unity. It seeks not to set the mother against her daughter nor the father against his son, but fosters the fraternal spirit whereby the human race is regarded as one great "brotherhood". It does not seek to drag down the natural man, but to improve and uplift him. It advocates education and cultivation and appeals to "the best that is within us". It aims to make this world such a congenial and comfortable habitat that Christos absence from it will not be felt and God will not be needed. It endeavors to occupy man so much with this world that he has no time or inclination to think of the world to come. It propagates the principles of self-sacrifice, charity and benevolence, and teaches us to live for the good of others, and to be kind to all. It appeals strongly to the carnal mind and is popular with the masses....
In contradistinction to the Gospel of Christ, the gospel of Satan teaches salvation by works. It inculcates justification before God on the ground of human merits. Its sacramental phrase is "Be good and do good".... It announces salvation by character, which reverses the order of God's Word, character by, as the fruit of, salvation. Its various ramifications and organizations are manifold. Temperance, Reform movements, "Christian Socialist Leagues", ethical culture societies, "Peace Congresses" are all employed (perhaps unconsciously) in proclaiming this gospel of Satan -- salvation by works. The pledge-card is substituted for Christ; social purity for individual regeneration, and politics and philosophy for doctrine and godliness. The cultivation of the old man is considered "more practical" than the creation of a new man in Christ Jesus; whilst universal peace is looked for apart from the interposition and return of the Prince of Peace.
The apostles of Satan ... minimize [sin] by declaring that sin is merely ignorance or the absence of good.... ...they make God a liar by declaring that He is too loving and merciful to send any of His own creatures to eternal torment.
... they ... hold up Christ as the great Examplar and exhort their followers to "follow in His step". ... Their message may sound very plausible and their actions appear very praiseworthy .... Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing (not to be wondered at) if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works"....

> Do animals have souls?

One hopes so.

Many years ago in narcotic fueled dreams recovering from some bad luck at dancing school, Sport and Jet and I roamed the fields again. One dream repeated itself over and over; we were coming down through the orchards on a hot summer day with the wind just so. We heard my grandmother yelling "Yoohoo, yoohoo" the way she did when she had something good like extra cake or cookie batter... The three of us took off down through the hollow...

If I have a soul, maybe one day Sport and Jet and I will see all those folks again.
