McCarthy didn't coin the term McCarthyism, the liberal media created the term. McCarthy didn't even head a committee, he was a minority senator in a democrat controlled congress. Harry Truman's administration started the crusade against communism but the Truman congress had no power to "blacklist" anyone. Hollywood was worried about losing money so they blacklisted their own. Ironically republican and conservative actors are more at risk today for being blacklisted than the whiny commies were during Truman's day.
