I don't think I can take it anymore. The horrible, horrible umpiring, the big money teams continuing to trounce small market teams, it just all sucks ass.

Moneyball was one of the best movies on the subject of what went wrong with MLB.

The baseball union destroyed it.

Big Money Teams got their asses kicked in the playoffs last year with LA, Atlanta, Yanks, Phil’s making quick exits

Money doesn’t buy everything

Has anyone seen umpiring this bad in the MLB ever?

They may as well fire them all and use AI to do their jobs for them.
They did fire (retire) Angel Hernandez

I would like to see an automated Strike Zone

Texas was not a low payroll team

MLB team payrolls in 2023

  1. N.Y. Mets, $353,546,854
  2. N.Y. Yankees, $276,999,872
  3. San Diego, $248,995,932
  4. Philadelphia, $243,009,439
  5. L.A. Dodgers, $222,717,834
  6. L.A. Angels, $212,228,096
  7. Toronto, $ 209,938,983
  8. Atlanta, $203,077,500
  9. Texas, $195,869,490
They were only 9th.

If you split the teams by payroll in half, you will see that the bottom half has about 5 or so that have a winning season, and if you take the upper half, you will discover that there are only 5 or so teams with a losing season.

The movie Moneyball was a true story about the Oakland A's who are at the bottom of the payroll, and it a hellish blue city from hell.

How can Oakland compete with a team like the Yankees with the Yankees spend more on their bull pen that Oakland does their entire team?

Makes no sense.

the yankees didnt make the playoffs last year....
If the Yankees don't win the world series about every 10 years or so they start to go nuts.

Making the playoffs, however, is expected as there is a huge scandal any year they don't.

Their front office simply is not that good. If it were, they would win a world series at least every 5 years or so.

But the media loves that fact that big market teams dominate the world series. It makes since because that has the largest fan base and the most money pouring in from ticket sales, etc.

The only losers are the small market fans that no one gives a damn about.

The cool part is that the big market teams do not always win

LA and NY are the biggest markets
Dodgers and Yanks do not have much to show in recent championships (Dodgers have one)
Mets and Angels suck

I think they take pride in their missed calls.
I think they are purposefully making bad calls for money reasons.

Again, it is more profitable for the world series to be between the Dodgers and Yankees that it is Pittsburg and Kansas.

I did not say they always win.

As I said, split MLB down the middle in terms of payroll, and what you will find is the bottom half only has 5 teams or so that overcome their woeful spending and have a winning season. Conversely, the top teams have about 5 who have a losing season, teams that have a horrible front office and don't know what they are doing.

But on average, you can buy yourself a winning season

And if the A's, for example, get to the playoffs, the likelihood of them beating the Yankeed and then the Red Sox in the playoffs is so small, the thought of it is laughable.

Automatic balls and strikes can't get here soon enough. It seems like nearly all the games except the occasional showcase game is pay per view.
I used to oppose it but there is too much variation in strike zones. A batter or pitcher should not have to learn an umpire

Automatic strike zone is the same regardless of who is umpiring.
A strike is always a strike
A ball is always a ball

Why not just admit the Reds suck?
