Ellen DeGeneres

Everyone needs to take a close look ast this "check" Ellen gave the blonds waitress.

In the upper left hand corner, where the "payee" goes, it says "Shutterfly".

Who is "Shutterfly" Why a major sponsor of the Ellen D show. Obviously, this is a sponsor/marketing gimmick dreamed up by Shutterfly in relation to their sponsorship of the show. Also obviously, it isn't Ellen giving the money, it's Shutterfly.

So..

1. Why is Ellen signing the check? Is he a cosignor on the Shutterfly marketing account?
2. Why does EVERY SINGLE PR puff piece put out by this photo op say that "Ellen DeJeneres gave a poor single mother waitress 10k"?

None of this 10k came out of Ellen's pocket, it all came out of her sponsors marketing budget. And I'm going to assume EVERY SINGLE OTHER PR STUNT OF THIS KIND ON ELLEN'S SHOW is the same.

This is nothing more then a marketing/PR stunt. It's the same as when a corp like Exxon put's out commercials telling the public how wonderful they are when it comes to environmental issues.

Why do they do it? Because it works...on people like who are posting on this thread.

So the critics of this obviously questionable "act of charity" are vindicated and those gushing about how wonderful Ellen is have spittle on your chin.

Not one dime of ANY of these acts of charity has come out of Ellen's own pocket.

But I can point to about a hundred media articles that claim it is so.

Rubes...what are you going to do?

You may be right that it's a publicity stunt, but the fact is that people here coming down on Ellen are only doing it because she's not a conservative/Republican - and the fact that Republicans do the same thing is what makes their whining so hypocritical, as I showed on a post to Penny......

But, Ellen could have used other means to promote publicity for herself, and the waitress would have been out $10k. Regardless of where it came from, it is money that Ellen help generate, and chose to give it to a waitress for doing a good deed, which in and of itself is also a good deed.

But, but...why is Ellen signing the check as if the money came out of her own pocket? Why is her PR machoine ramped up to put out PR releases that "Ellen gave the waitress 10k"?

Would you agree that is duplicitous? And if Ellen's motives were completely altruistic, why would she and PR machine do so?

The best question yet...why did the waitress deserve 10K?

I swear to god, I'll consider turning back on my rep for 24 hours if ONE SINGLE SUPPORTER OF ELLEN WHO HAS POSTED ON THIS THREAD CAN ANSWER THAT QUESTION HONESTLY.

Because that is the way that those things are handled?

Would you agree that is duplicitous? And if Ellen's motives were completely altruistic, why would she and PR machine do so?
I can't read Ellen's mind, and I don't know if she is sincere or not, neither do you, so all we can base it is on our own opinion and what we have been shown. I believe that she could have blown those $10k on some frivolous thing for herself, it is after all her money, but she chose to give it to a waitress, and the waitress is $10k richer.

The best question yet...why did the waitress deserve 10K?
Why does anyone? People win the Lotto everyday, some are already wealthy, some blow it in record time. Who cares whether she is deserving or not. She did a good deed, and apparently that was reason enough for Ellen.

I swear to god, I'll consider turning back on my rep for 24 hours if ONE SINGLE SUPPORTER OF ELLEN WHO HAS POSTED ON THIS THREAD CAN ANSWER THAT QUESTION HONESTLY.
Are you being disingenuous? Because how would I or anyone else know that you are going to consider what anyone says to you as "honest"? You could claim that we weren't being honest till the cows came home, and we couldn't change your mind. The fact is, it's not relevant.

And you already visited every one of those sites, and you are sure that none of them help wounded soldiers?

I suppose it's possible that Artists Against Racism is a front for wounded soldiers...

When the focus of the charitable act becomes the giver instead of the charity, IMO the act is questionable.

Jesus said something about that...he who gives in public has already received their reward.

I wonder if this woman refused to appear on Ellen's show if she would have still got the 10K?

Doubt it.

This was a publicity stunt that didn't cost her a dime. The sad part is that she wouldn't have even missed the $10,000 if it had come out of her own pocket.

Not a dime to any wounded soldier projects or their families.

And supporting charities is not the same as donating to them.
When a celebrity "supports" a cause it means they get other people to donate to it but they get the credit. What's so noble about that?

So what if she doesn't donate to wounded soldiers?

I could be a multi millionaire and if I were..I would donate to the cancer foundation and ASPCA. Period. It's my money. So who the hell are you to judge who donates to whatever, or how much?

Exactly.

And I'd start a no-kill shelter on 100 acres of land, like the Gentle Barn which she DOES support.

And nobody would ever see me again. :)
Really? Or hear from you?

So, I guess Cheney and any other rich people that give money to charity would do better to keep it, because they won't even miss it?:lol: Typical conservative thinking.
