Erasing US History

Shelley was quite wrong to dismiss Ramses II (AKA Ozymandias in Greek) as a great king, forgotten by history.

In fact, he is one of the most documented pharaohs and ancient Egypt.

Does that mean we have to erase that part of our history?
Don't we learn from our history so we don't repeat it?
